Incest games... Help please.

I'm a bit depressed about how incest games are taking over Patreon. Most of them earns tons of money and all of them are made in a week or two. There are some high quality games done with much more effort in months/years and saddly they earn nothing compared to the other games.

It bothers me to see how these people take the consumer's money for doing nothing. The most annoying part is that they say to be "professional teams" when the true is that they are just two or three guys maninting ten games.

I'm decided to make an adult game to see what happens. A more complex game with better quality and faster updates for a portion of the price everyone ask for.

But there is a huge problem... The story/ideas. I don't like incest. I don't feel it so the game would be a disaster if I make the story wrong.

The first thing that came into my head is a common family and a college. Should I make a comic with a basic storyline before doing a game to let the people know the characters? What do you feel playing these kind of games? What would you expect to see? What do you think about all these things and the situation of the games and the "games" on Patreon?

Any other comment/opinion/help will be really appreciated. Thanks!

I'll be straight with you - a comic serving as a prologue is too much. 1) Its an indie porn game. People are not going to give two sh*ts about it unless it turns into a full-blown AAA erotic comic. 2) Your time, money and resources are limited, specially at the beginning, so stick to what matters (the game) and leave trivial stuff aside until you're famous and rich enough to afford a team to do it on the side, without slowing down development of the main project. If you really want to give us a character bio and background then you should do so within the game itself.

On one hand I like the idea of dealing with complete unknown characters because it emulates real life in the sense you have to explore and experiment to learn their traits and preferences, which makes it more fun in a way. People are also more inclined to roleplay their choices or just being themselves when they don't have the game holding their hands and screaming "SHE LIKES X SO YOU BETTER DO IT THIS WAY TO GET IN HER PANTS" right in their face. On the other hand I don't always have the patience to deal with trial-and-error just to get to a couple of sexy scenes and this goes for raising stats as well (since its a college scenario). If a game is going to be "grindy" then it better be worth my time. The thing about grind in these situations is that it usually only serves to extend gameplay time on an otherwise short demo... People want to fap, not to die of boredom raising stats like a japanese dating sim.

As for the other games in Patreon... I agree with you in that there's too many games of questionable quality being made by equally shady devs and used as bait in an otherwise thirsty market. That being said, there wouldn't be such a huge influx of incest games if the genre itself didn't make money. Sure, its unfair to see hard-working, dedicated developers getting the short end of the stick just because they didn't catch on or decided to ignore the trends but its equally unfair to blame people for not supporting the projects you deem "worthy". Its their money, they spend it where they want.

The market is always changing, always fluctuating and right now we're going through a period where incest and huge breasts are all the rage. One day people will get tired of it and shift to something else, maybe something you and several other people prefer. Everyone gets a chance eventually I believe, just gotta wait it out. Until then keep doing what you believe is right, perhaps advertise a few projects you think are really good but not getting enough attention. There's so many established games out there its kind hard for a new developer to stick out so all the help is welcome.

this may just be me but i cant stand how demz games show a family member that fucks you after 3 days of compliments and is as corrupted as a succubus in a week i like tension not knowing anything makes you feel free to do anything but some games just have two or three crucial decisions and after that everyone wants you i like forbidden romance not just a balls to the wall fuckfest i like it being milked and surprising you even though you shouldnt be surprised by sex in a porn game Roundscape of adoravia (think i spelled that wrong) had some of the best incest not just because the art was immaculate but because it came from nowhere smashing through other quests and bam your mothers on your johnson a good game in general should quietly set the paving stones down you should figure out what shape the road takes and while your being absorbed in this game worlds story and creation surprises still come at you wow well thats what i get for letting my train of thought go wild haha just thought id contribute something.

That's true, but the problem is if you make (or try to) do something good, people complains your game is too slow.
I get mostly of this games are fantasies (mostly of the author) but hell, I think some can be done correctly...
