The STAR TREK series I like are as follows in no particular order:
Enterprise, T.N.G, Voyager, and The Original Series.
The STAR TREK series I don't like are as follows in no particular order:
J. J. Abrams "Reboot" films (HORSE SHIT with COW SHIT mixed in and painted in gold paint) and D.S.9 (BORING DOG SHIT only worth watching for Odo and Quark)

DS9 followed a different formula from the other series yes, but that didn't make it boring. Depends on what you are looking for in a show I suppose.
I can at least agree with you about the new films, they are a pile of shit painted gold, and covered in lens flares. They make me sad for the future of Star Trek.

I was just being honest about how i felt about D.S.9.
I did leave out somethings about it which were more nitpicks then anything.
Would you have preferred I lied about how I felt? 
P.S: (If I need a nap I watch D.S.9) 
Funny, when I think about the new movies I ask myself this. Would Gene like 'em. You know what, I think he would.
Would he? Roddenberry never did like any attempts to put a damper on his perfect utopia of the federation, he certainly wouldn't have approved of DS9 or Voyager from what I've heard, and his influence in the early part of the Next Generation can still be felt. However after he stopped influencing things half way through the Next Generations run, the writters were free to take things a new direction that was considered better by many.
Returning to my original point, Roddenberry's vision of the Star Trex universe probably wouldn't mesh with where J.J. Abrams took it.
Roddenberry would have hated DS9 and would have abhorred the very concept of Section 31.
We are sooooooo far past that. We literally had a discussion about how the thread was derailed and then kept on plowing. I dunno what's next >.>
As far as Gene goes. I suppose you guys must be right. I guess I have a lighter view of Gene.
