I want to make a Bessy Mauler build, need help

I like crossbows. Closest thing to a gun you can get in these kind of games(medieval-ish fantasy and the like). Unfortunately, games that have crossbows AND bows DON'T like crossbows(looking at you Pathfinder, Baldur's Gate, and Dragon Age 1). Still, I like them and want to make them work.

Unfortunately, I'm not great at building crafting and wouldn't know what the best stats, abilites, or equipment would get me the best returns in this endeavor. If anyone knows how one would go about making Bessy work, I would appreciate any advice.

Strength, Agility and Cunning. Pick Warrior if you just want more damage, no questions asked, or Thief if you're prepared to build around Twist the Knife.

Peruse Leorah's training abilities, they're all bow-based. There are a couple Warrior and Rogue talents that work with bows, too. J in Khor'minos has a couple good ones.

Triple threat is quite good for a ranged build. I would actually say thief is better for messy mauler specifically, because they get overpenetration on physical attacks and the mauler has very high armor pen

Mighty Draw, Triple Threat, Pierce and Fade, Wyvernbane, Eagle Eye, and situationally Nerves of Steel are all pretty good. Take a look at Arona's Hawkeye set if you want some inspiration, all of the powers she has there are learnable or stealable I believe.

Stealing companion powers is rather difficult. There's only one opportunity to do so in the game and its surprisingly easy to miss

I could've sworn Mighty Draw and Pierce and Fade were obtainable elsewhere, huh.

Well, Triple Threat, Eagle Eye and Nerves of Steel are obtainable without stealing from Arona.
