I broke the level up system

Playing around with the stat gain system, I found some problems.

At level 7 I didn't fully max out my stats, I went and built them up at the gym at level 8 without using stat points. I realised that leveling up increases the cap, you don't need the stat points. Along with that Syri's intelligence gain doesn't seem to have a level cap

I don't see anything wrong here except for the INT bit. Perhaps you are stating it as it is, but as somebody who doesn't use the stat points at all, it just looks like you reduced your remaining stat points to 13 and posted a screenshot after you levelled up.

You don't need to spend points when levelling up, you can just take your perk and go.

As for the Syri bit, I've never experienced that bug with her. Have you by chance got any perks that messed with INT? Another person said that could've also been an issue.

Nah, I've since gotten intelligence up to 300. That is the main problem just an odd little glitch in the mechanics of the game. I didn't phrase it well enough or give better proof. I have no perks that would influence intelligence, so something weird has gone on here.

Other than that, I just think that the pool of stat points is a bit of an odd thing than anything. What are you supposed to do with them now? I took my perk now I have this icon constantly flashing because I can't dump my stat points.

You might want to upload a save so someone can take a look at the uncapped Intelligence.

Level Up points are 1-to-1. Slow Stat Gain has diminishing returns the closer you are to the cap. The intent seems to have been that you would spend your points (13*level is enough to keep two stats maxed and another one high) and use Slow Stat Gain to round out your build, but in practice you want to do the opposite. You also don't want to place Affinity in a stat you plan to use Level Points for. Personally, I've been banking my level up points so I can spend them all on the back half. If and when those levels are added. And if I don't start over before then.
The constant Codex flashing is annoying. I know I have unspent points. I'm doing that on purpose!

Edit: Syri's Book talk is definitely broken, Dumb4Cum or no Dumb4Cum.

It seems that all Slow Stat Gain is currently broken in that it doesn't respect the stat cap of level * 5

I've managed to get Internal_physiqueRaw to 65 by using Ramis' Strength option.
Internal_reflexesRaw to 55 via her Stamina option (I even did this unintentionally because I wanted to increase Willpower).

Honestly, this doesn't affect much game wise (because their stat functions like pc.physique() cap at level * 5) other than you don't need to use level up points anymore.

Level up points have been merely a convenience for a long time now, if you have the patience to stat-grind.

People are generally reasoning "i will slow stat gain my attributes first and keep points for later levels when the slow stat gain no longer works, to max out everything". Which i feel is a mistake, because there's no reason to think slow stat gain effect won't be adjusted to match the increased level cap, once the cap is actually raised. If ever.

Not 'when slow stat gain no longer works'. It takes longer to raise a stat the closer you are to your current cap. It's faster to use SSG when a stat is relatively low, then finish it off with level up points than to do it the other way around. It's possible to bank enough level up points that you will never need to use SSG again, as the level cap increases.
It already adjusts. It's based on your current cap, not the cap at max level.

Sure, but if someone is doing all their attribute raising now, by grinding attributes all way to the cap, so they can bank up enough level up points so they don't need to use SSG when the cap is raised, then they're hardly gaining anything tangible -- after all, their SSG is then in large part performed close to the (current) level cap, i.e. at a pace just as slow as they'd face if they put it off until the level cap increase.

Not to mention saving oneself a handful of minutes in a game which takes literal months between small incremental updates feels like really over-obsessive attempt at optimization :v
