I am interested in attempting to recreate elements of CoC2 in Minecraft. Has anything like this been attempted?

I intend to use WorldPainter to make the rough landscape and build all the structures in creative. Has anyone here heard of something like this being done?

I have not heard of something like this being done. It sounds quite ambitious. What area are you starting with? Hawkethorne? Or do you have some location that you really want to dig into, like Khor'minos?

The goal is to start with Hawkethorne. I've never used worldpainter before so it's a bit of a learning curve, but I don't see any other way of truly capturing the immersive feeling of walking down the road and seeing all the sights we've become so familiar with over the last few years, portrayed visually instead of literally. I'd like to do the entirety of the playable portion of savarra, but that's a long term project if I can be bothered and have enough time.

If anyone has any sources for artwork depicting vistas from COC2, I'd be much abliged to have them.

Working on the tree species, composition, density and overall vibe of the Frostwood north of Hawkethorne.

Community input is welcome.

I am at a crossroads as to how I portray towns and cities in this world. I can portray them verbatim, as in there are only the specific buildings mentioned in the game - all of twelve structures in all of hawkethorne - or I can portray them more realistically, with as many houses as would feasibly have existed in this fantasy world based loosely on the west european early iron age, based on the number of people to a settlement. I'm using the Domesday book (early 11th century England) for some approximate references. Let's say we pick Britford about Salisbury, a settlement of 48 households, which houses one priest, two mills, and about 1.5km^2 of pasture/meadow. Sounds roughly right for Hawkethorne. So that puts our population at roughly 48 houses, with 4.5 persons per house gives 216 people. I've lived in a village of about 200 people, most people are known to each other by name, and outsiders are easily spotted. Sounds about right for Hawkethorne.

So here's the question: A small but accurate representation, or a more realistic and populated representation?

oh, that's a great question! i feel like most people would go for strict accuracy, but a more realistic tac would be very cool. do you intend to populate the village with generic Minecraft villagers?

ultimately, the choice rests on how much free time and creative energy you have to put into this. as cool as realism would be, 12 sounds much more feasible than 48, so consider taking the simpler route to avoid burnout before completion. you can always expand later!

Good shout. I'm not planning on using villagers because I hate them. I think I'll make it building-for-building and just add more later if I feel like it.

I'd love to see the realistic version, but possibly worth remembering that if you make Njorhaalt and Khor'Minos by the same principle, you could be working on this for a very long time.

I'm looking forward to Khor'Minos, I've always wanted to build a city in a mountain.

Meanwhile on my building instance, the Frost Hound is coming along.
I welcome any suggestions as to decoration mods that would help. I'm currently doing it in ATM10 with the aim to produce a refined modlist for a custom instance once the project is playable.
