How to find Ben/Bess

So I've been searching near the junk pile on tarkus like it said to on the wiki, but but i haven't found Ben/Bess yet. So i was wondering if i just need to look longer, if theres a special condition to finding them, or if i found them before and didn't notice and now i cant find them again. or whatever other possible answer there may be. Sorry if this is a stupid question but i just really want t find them.

So, starting from the exit to Novahome, go as far to the left as you can without turning. Then go up and left, and you're pretty much guaranteed to find Ben/Bess, as a silver foot in the sand.

if you found them already you have to check your ship crew for them
