And what's your endgame dream for each location? If you have one of course.
I'm playing my Steele as a neutral evil tech specialist that wants to turn SteeleTech into a corporation that strains anti-trust laws by acquiring whatever Maximilian Steele's company is and initiating a hostile takeover of Xenogen with assistance from TamaniCorp and dividing it between the two of us.
Something about Xenogen pisses me off, especially with how it's implied if I help them too many times they'll try to subjugate me. Also Haswell is a prick.
Here's my endgame ideas for each station. Probably not achievable in the game of course.
Tavros Station: establish a major SteeleTech presence there beyond the nursery. That's about it really. Maybe get Vahn to run it if he's interested.
Mhen'ga: Oust Xenogen and establish a major SteeleTech presence there. Use Penny to get U.G.C. to apply some pressure to Xenogen due to their capture of live specimens, and once the Zil are recognized as a proper species, use my standing with Quinn to rally charges against them and get them kicked out. Also, see if I can get Haswell sent to Gastigoth. I hate that guy.
Tarkus: Establish major SteeleTech presence. Since I helped Shekka improve her people and make them not so fuck-hungry all the time, SteeleTech will be there to facilitate their continued uplifting and begin testing to see how well they fare as employees given their inherent technical capabilities. SteeleTech helping the Grey Goo seems ok in game, so not much to add here. Maybe get Lash to help me with a little something for Myrellion.
Myrellion: Oh boy, here's where it gets interesting. Prepare for a long list, or just skip it and read the TL;DR at the bottom.
Oust Xenogen and establish SteeleTech as the dominant company on the planet.
Do so by the following steps.
1. Acquire a strain of the disease currently plaguing the Laquine.
2. Send it to Lessau and get him to turn it into the genophage, but able to be activated and deactivated using specific compounds. If that seems hard, get Lash to help out, but be careful about it.
3. Establish a SteeleTech shop on Myrellion.
4. Become Queen of the Nyrea and take some discreet samples.
5. Get the bothrioc sample from Ara Kei and get Lessau to develop the real counteragent for it, except with the added genophage for them thrown in. Also get him to make a genophage for the Nyrea too.
6. Capture a Nyrea, both Alpha and Beta, and a quadomme and test their genophages on them. Once it works, kill them and get back to Myrellion.
7. Give the counteragent to Ara Kei, and take the samples she gives me and get Lessau to develop dormant genophages for each of the Myr species.
8. Help the Gold queens and warn Irellia about the dangers of modification. Set her up as a lesson for later.
9. Help the Red army. For Estallia, gain her trust by returning the documents to her, keep the Xenogen datapad to myself, and offer her transport offworld to Mhen'ga.
10. Except the transport doesn't actually go to Mhen'ga. It instead subdues her and her children as the first test subjects for the Gold Myr genophage.
11. Test it out. Once it works, kill them.
12. Gain the trust of Briha, Lys, and Liliana and do the same to them. Also grab some more Gold and Red Myr deserters. Gotta get a representative sample after all. Wouldn't want the genophage to not work.
13. Afterwords, warn Sellera and Nehzara, maybe somewhat subtly and anonymously, about the dangers of modification, just like with Irellia.
14. Then, once I've made sure each strain of the genophage works for the Red Myr, Gold Myr, Bothrioc, and Nyrea, get it into an easily transmittable form and get the party started.
15. Infect Irellia and some Red Myr that have been modified and then get the genophage to activate for them on a delayed timer. Then spread some rumors here and there about Xenogen being shady.
16. Once they start noticing their sterility and stillbirths, rile'em up anonymously against Xenogen.
17. Make sure Xenogen can't solve the problem on their own and let them fumble around for a bit.
18. Then step in as SteeleTech and graciously provide a cure (the deactivation compound), and offer to inoculate them against future diseases with a vaccine (a minor health booster, so it feels effective, with the genophage tucked in). Since the genophage showing was so scary, the Bothrioc and Nyrea probably want in too, so give it to them as well. Xenogen probably can't interfere given how they've just been demonized, so they shouldn't be too big a problem.
19. Now with two minor factions stabilizing the situation between the two big ones, I should have a pretty good foundation to start building rapport with them as SteeleTech, especially since I have a noose around their neck. But if they ever decide to get a bit antsy, hit'em with a genophage breakout, that'll shut them down real quick. Xenogen might still be on the planet, but with that fiasco hounding them for the rest of their stay, they should shove off pretty quickly.
20. But just in case, plant a nuke somewhere inflammatory, like where the nuke in Kara's Quest 2 was. Have it on hand if I ever need to reignite the war and have the planet glassed.
TL;DR - Start Fuck Myrellion 2: Genophage Boogaloo. Frame Xenogen. Profit.
New Texas: Open up a SteeleTech shop, and look more closely into Varmints. A silicone based lifeform sounds interesting, especially with how they might be able to help the Grey Goo from Tarkus.
Uveto: Secure exclusive mining rights with the help of the Korg'ii and our Frostwyrm mate. Not sure what to do beyond that.
Canadia Station: Dunno, too little stuff on there at this point.
Zheng Shi: SIDEWINDER BAYBEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. After we steal that, get Olympia on our crew. Maybe have her make friends with Hand So. Two sextoys turned superintelligences should have something to bond over right?
If the place is still worth mining, kick some ass with the Sidewinder, have SteeleTech come in, secure it, and start mining.
Gastigoth: Not much to change. Just throw all of my hated enemies there for fun. Maybe have them partner with Sentient Acquisitions or something for a mutually beneficial relationship.
Breedwell: Not much to change. Perhaps use it as a point of contact for Tamani to begin discussions on how to break apart Xenogen and how it will benefit both SteeleTech and TamaniCorp.
B-B-B-Bonus Round!
Rival: Have Maximilian get tortured for as long as perceptually possible by throwing him into some sort of personalized prison run by an AI specialized in torture.
Turn Jack (he's male since I started Gryvain) into a girl, and then turn her into a surrogate for my future children. She'll have ovaries, but not with any eggs of her own genetics material (wouldn't want to propagate that side of the family after all). Instead, if I happen to have a lover who wants children but without giving birth and has a reproductive system similar enough to a human female's, I'll just get them to put some of their eggs into femJack's ovaries and fuck away. I could also just use her to raise clutches of eggs too.
That way, femJack basically serves as some sort of combination living incubator-sextoy. Much more useful than just killing him/her.
And so you can see that I like playing characters as an evil bastard on no one's side but their own, even when I can't quite express that in the game they exist in. It's still quite fun to think about though, especially with how interesting this universe is.
So what do you guys think? Do you have any grand plans or errant thoughts floating about in your head that you'd like to share? If so, I'd love to hear them.
