Not the "Appearance" button, I meant the character viewer.

There is no character viewer, there never really can be one, there's hundreds of different appearance modifiers in the game. Cait's always going to be a blue-eyed pink-haired cat girl, but the PC can be a black-haired cow-girl or a blue-haired salamander or a blonde human with demon horns and 6 tits, black eyes and a fox tail. It's completely unworkable to have a character viewer outside of your own mind.

There have been a couple attempts at character viewers but they all ended in failure; the most recent example could actually damage your saves so was removed from the site entirely. So, sorry, but there's not and never will be a visual representation of your character.
