Highlighted choices, what do they mean?

Having just started playing again, I don't remember if there is any special meaning to buttons with options/choices that are colored bright pink/violet contrary to those that are plain dark blue. Is there some specific significance, or does the game just like to throw some random color in for kicks?

The are just to denote the hotkeys W,S,A,D, primarily for movement if the player decides to play the game with the keyboard.

You mean people don't play using the keyboard? But...having to click each direction you want to go is so tedious, not to mention you could slip and...I don't know accidentally say you're a hero or something
