Regardless of how the community here feels about the loli/shota, exhentai was host to a lot of eastern furry art and a lot of really old, obscure western comics that can't be found anywhere else now. This is a massive loss just for the internet in general
yup... it's mainly because the person in charge didn't wanna take the effort of searching for an alternative hosting site in another country other than the Netherlands. which had a recent change in laws. I feel sad for all the lost art, manga and doujins now... who knows when E-hentai will go the way of the dodo along with it.
6 months to a year is the current projection as stated by the admin (Tenboro) and a mod (Maximum Joe). Fortunately that should be more than enough time for another archive to be established, but save the shit you like anyway.
I just can't understand what the hell is wrong with that idiotic policy these days. On one hand - it's a total propaganda of a full-blown liberalism in a daily lives. No, but then there's also no proof that loli/shota exacerbates or causes pedophilia either, much in the same way that furry porn doesn't necessarily lead to irl bestiality, or rape porn doesn't necessarily lead to irl rape.
UPDATE: According to Maximum Joe (mod/high ranking member) a full backup still exists. 4chan is currently scrambling to get things in place to potentially re-host or archive the site now.
I watched that unfold in real time, unfortunately the /g/ anon was trolling. We do have other people offering up tons of TBs of archive though right now, if you're skeptical of the actual backup.
yeah thought as much, either way a concentrated effort on the part of people as a whole is probably want's gonna have it saved as a backup is more viable and believable.
I won't hold my breath but it would be nice if some backups could be made.

People are gonna be visiting the site heavy, paranoia is running rampant now and lots of folks be making backups of the place now by mass downloading as much as they can. Either way it's a fuckton amount of data.

Well, strange. Just tried to open it (without clearing the cache or anything) and everything was just fine. Seems like it was just a maintenance or something. Or a new "spooky friday" event with the seemingly dead site every two weeks?..
It's a cesspool but its OUR cesspool. Those lovable scamps save all kinds of things that would be otherwise lost. Well, most of 4ch is lovable. /pol/ not so much.
/pol/ is just what happens when you inject politics into what 4chan already is. The site is loved for anonymity and little oversight, so it shouldn't be a surprise that those same people approve of conservatively small government. Nor that they'd use the opportunity to troll the world with extreme posts and conspiracies.
