Not all games or developers are created equal.

So lets discuss the best works and creators and why they are good.

Lets disregard promise and potential for the moment.

Akabur - He has his own art, there is animation and the characters feel like people. He has completed projects. They can be a little grindy towards the late game.

Fenoxo Fenfen - Despite the games being a primarily text based, they are vast. Despite being unfocused they have a lot of content for everyone... Even if TiTS is ridiculously futa heavy. Again he has a completed project.

GabeWork - Queen Opala has finished games in it's franchise it has it's own Art. If you don't find overly large breasted women having sex with animals interesting you might find this series to be little dry. Also you are weird. Also this series is curious as it has actual voice work.

Hreinn Games - Noxian Nights is done, it has proper art, corruption themes, tentacles and properly drawn horse cocks. It also has fairly competent RPG style game play.

Arvus Games - Roundscape Adorevia is story complete and has been for months. It has lots of art and covers a lot of ground in the fetish category.

Cypress Zeta - Overwhored is a competent entry but perhaps the weakest I'll suggest. Not so much for the focus on mind control but rather for the weakness of the endgame.

Sierra Lee - The Last Sovereign is not complete and it can still fall apart or fail to meet expectations. Even if it does deflate into the flaccid penis of disappointment at the end it will still be one of the best games on this list.

Cmacleod - Slavemaker 3. Ah what an ancient and venerable title. Certainly an important and influential game.

If you want someone else on this list please point to a completed work of their's and explain why it belongs up here.

*Attention* - Gold Stars awarded in this thread cannot be redeemed for actual gold, actual stars or actual stickers shaped like gold stars.

Sorry Fen. Your games are the best text-based fap material out there, but The Last Sovereign is a game I love as an actual game and not just because I can get off to it repeatedly.

I enjoy CoC and TiTS as games to an incredibly high standard. The sandbox that those games exist in is fantastic for pleasing the entire community and allowing options, plus being heavily replayable. However, TLS is so well crafted that it feels directed towards my interests and attaches me to the characters themselves.
Tl;dr: I agree.

Are we talking about adult devs in general?
If yes then I would nominate NightCityProductions/Baal/the Dev of SuperPowered
https://www.patreon.com/NightCity

He works his ass off and puts content out like crazy.
This is his "first" game besides the RAGS version of his game. He abandoned the RAGS version once he saw that RAGS can't keep up with the stuff he wanted to do.

Honorable mention:

p4p with "Fucked up Burger Shack". It's his/her third game I think and they also made a body gen program for adult games. Puts out content on a regular basis and also constantly improves the code of his game.
https://bunkville.blogspot.com/

Maverik with his/her game "Strive for Power" (also their first game). Puts out content on a regular basis.

You don't need to know!
Well i will say what i think is a pro and a con of each creator:

-Akabur: He is quite a good artist and completes his work, however his work is truly slow because he doesn't like to work with other people.

-Fenoxo: A part of me wanted to vote for them just because of the so many transformations and different variations must be hellish to do, however, they are quite lax about work, sometimes you will find a lot of updates which are quite significant, and others you will even fear if something happened to them XD, however out of the list i think they deserve my vote. The only thing that is always like a weight in my mind is if they could promote other good games that lack support, because i feel that they have enough and that would talk quite well from them.

-Gabework: The games have good characters, however the games have a lot of lacks, like a good scripting or a better combat system. This is a big wall that separate a quite good game from a great game.

-Hreinn Games: They are a bit of opposite to fenoxo, they have a great schedule and everyone can feel the work at anytime, however the game is quite basic in many aspects, specially the combat and the non sexual scenes, in my opinnion they focused so much of art that they forgot about having more normal events and talks.

-Arvus Games: Of the list this is the only one that i would never vote, the reason is that they have done many things that shouldn't be done in a game, like for example changing engines. Their art was of multiple styles and people can see that and they are focusing more in "a lot of places" when their best point should have been "places that change and evolve". However i will say that it is not like they don't have good points, it is just that i feel that the bad ones are too much.

-Cypress Zeta: Played overwhored and... i feel that the game never achieved it's true potential, personally i find it as a good game but that's it. Their new game Snow Daze (before Home invasion) i can't truly talk because it is unfinished for now.

-Sierra Lee: I can't truly say that i understand why people like it so much, personally i found that the start was so forced, in fact the lack of a good combat system or cgs and the use of a lot of sprites from rpg maker makes me feel like it would have been better writing a book than making a game, perhaps i'm too much of a critic with this because i can't truly see the game good points, forgive me for that.

I've never played any of Fenoxo's games, because they are all text, and that's not my thing.

Large breasts are also a big turn off for me, so that rules out most of the others.

Had to go with Akabur. His were the only games on the list i could play / tolerate.

Why are you even here, then? Legit baffled.

He is in the other games section of the forum, which has a lot of different games on it, not just text games. I also don't like text games, but this is a good forum to discover other adult games....Us none-text game players always get such a cold reception here though, which is the one downside to these forums, and a little sad...

I'm typically not a fan of text games myself, but I do give them a chance from time to time and love Fen's work. The forums are a byproduct of the huge community that enjoy his games. Most of us probably never consider the forums as being separate from the games at all which makes it so baffling that someone would be here without liking them. There are plenty of other forums and websites dedicated to adult games without any one game or creator acting as the centerpiece for them.

I'm here for the "other adult games"... If you check my post history, this is the only portion of the site i ever visit.

Wouldn't even occur to my mind that one would think you have to enjoy every aspect of such a wide ranging website to utilize it.

Of course i use other sites, too. Hypnopics Collective, their gaming section.. (even though i'm not a big fan of one off picture manipulations), TF gamesite... (Even though i only care for some niche types of transformation.) EXhentai, (even though i only search for a few specific categories)...

I'm even authoring a game on TFGamesite, about a shemale apocalypse... (Even though i'm not personally into shemales, nor gender bending in general...) And shockingly... It's a text based game! (lol) Although it does have a tremendous image content for a twine game.

I guess i'm just not as limited in my associations as some people?

Although i'm new can I nominate one developer and two games although for developer i forgot his name.
As i enjoy sandbox gameplay i would love to nominate original author of slavemaker/simbrothel (this is the forgotten name).
- Slavemaker 3 (I believe we can count this as completed game)
- Whore Master (It's still being developed but only by adding new jobs/buildings so we probably should consider this as completed.

I believe it's Cmacleod ... For Slavemaker 3... He's still active on the Hypnopics Collective website.

It's a collaborative effort, with many people making characters and quests... He's main integrator / developer though.

For Sim Brothel, not sure.. I think that's a different person.... None of those development sites appear related to him.

I like Fenoxo's games but you can have only so much Futa before I'm like "k thats enough now." I haven't played The Last Sovereign recently but I'm planning too at least. Mostly because I like games like that that let me run around, hunt, figure out what to do etc.

So my vote went towards The Last Sovereign.

A.S./Studio I-raf-You the creators of Shrink High. I am neither into vore nor into GTS yet the gameplay was entertaining enough for me to go through the entire game. There are tons of hentai games made in RPG maker but Shrink High is the best, hands down.

Shrink High is a Japanese Game though. This is more of a encouragement of the much smaller English primary games.

Oh... This reminds me of another one I missed though.

Wait no... 4 Leaf Studios of Katawa Shoujo is a mass of unpaid and unloved volunteer labor. It is an act of creation that is both unrepeatable and unenviable.

I'm going to suggest adding Bane to the list, if that's okay. The game in question is called Blackgate. It's a gay furry game, so I doubt it'll get much coverage since it's rather niche, but the art is good/original and the story is blatantly fantastic. As VNs go, it would be worthy of playing even without the sexy bits just for the dark horror/mystery stuff going on.

Yeah, I got nothing. Most of the stuff I can think of is either unfinished, shoddy or appealing to other kinks.

Not sure why Noxian Nights is on this list.
You start the game regretting starting it.
It's just SOOO slow.

Hreinn Games is on the list because Noxian Nights is a completed game.

This is what makes them a developer and not just a "developing".

Akabur: Competent, nice drawings - though with time, the style gets repetitive ("I've seen this face before"-syndrome). Mechanics-wise, I don't fancy his games; They're mostly straight-forward, mindless and long grind, and even the "corruption" I come for is pretty bland. Writing is okay if you go for "KoolAid" slapstick. Though with the sorry state of writing in smut games, it's still in the upper 20%.

Fenoxo: For my taste, some of his scenes run on for too long - I'm all for well-written smut, but where most games fail at the low end, Fenoxo sometimes overdoes his pieces. Over-all, though, I really do enjoy his writing, which is probably evidenced by the fact that I dig CoC and TiTS even though I don't go for most of the fetishes in there. But I don't have to, because for the few fetishes that do it for me in his pieces, there's enough to keep me entertained (and well!) for hours. Gameplay is solid enough that I don't have a particular criticism; I do prefer CoC a bit because so many of its transformatives have a limited random factor to it, which isn't the case for TiTS (you can buy most of them for cash, which in turn makes the grind more obvious).

GabeWork: I find that Legend of Opala has too much grind and too much obscure stuff to really be worth it. It's been a while since I played it, but if I remember correctly, there was a point where I just couldn't be arsed to backtrack any more. This goes for oh-so-many fap games, but if you need a walkthrough open while playing just to be sure you don't miss something important, that's a serious design flaw.

Hreinn Games: I've never played League of Legends, so Noxian Night's fan service was 100% lost on me. Again, the criticism about "make your goddamn mechanics a bit more clear" applies - without the well-written and comprehensive walkthrough at my side that's even linked on the devs' patreon page, I would have missed a lot of the content I wanted to see. And it's not as if I fancy walkthroughs - I like figuring out stuff for myself. But for that, the devs need drop hints early enough for me to react. Example: The extended barn scene is gated behind companion affection - but you find that only out the moment the scene already triggers, if then.
For combat mechanics, I found the game to be a mixed bag. Some encounters are absolutely trivial, some do need you to use tactics (good!), and others still are just... products of an asshole dev. Example being one boss that has an attack that instantly downs a party member, with low-medium hit chance. It's also got a lot of HP, so the fight drags on. And the fewer HP the boss has left, the more attacks per round he gets. I've had him down three of my four party members in a single round. Four times in a row. That's rage-inducing, nothing else. And that's not the worst offender. To end on a more positive note: I love the idea with playable after-the-end endings, best feature of NN in my opinion. Minotaur end best end.

Arvus Games: I've just recently started with Roundscape, so not too much to say yet. The game (courtesy of being an RPGMaker game) runs sub-optimally on my PC, meaning lots of microstutters. At the moment, I'm not really motivated to get deeper into it. I'm still in the first town on the quest to collect wolf pelts. Which don't drop from wolves, apparently. Oh well, maybe I'll give it another try when I've finished hammering this 'ere piece into my machine.

Cypress Zeta: Overwhored is better about letting you hit all the porn in the game, but a serious offender with combat mechanics, at least for me. Enemies respawn every time you switch maps, and they pursue you aggressively, even when they cannot touch you. Which means that you'll be fighting a lot of very repetitive fights. And again, it's poorly balanced. I still remember the poison debuff from otherwise absolutely harmless enemies that made the game into much more of a hassle than its bosses. That said, I found that it suffers from a relative dearth of content once you've hit "the main stuff".

Sierra Lee: I really like The Last Sovereign so far from a writing perspective, and I can see why it's on the list despite being unfinished: It's one of the very few games that take themselves seriously as far as writing goes. I've already mentioned Akabur's "breaking the 4th wall" style; Most of porn games have this to varying degrees: "Hey, we know you're just here for the fap, and don't give a shit about the story, so let's be all bros here and laugh about how silly this is."
TLS is markedly different - it actually features a protagonist and story that goes beyond "here to see the boobs". It also features some more "emotional" (as opposed to visual) sex. Which I dig. I sorta have high hopes for TLS, but I also fear that the combat will be just as mixed as NN's was. Plis no.

Cmacleod: Slavemaker may be "old and venerable", and it's the game that more or less got me into smut games. Owing to its many creators, its quality meanders quite a lot. There's pieces that are really well done (Aeris made me seek out Fen's place, for example), and there's pieces that make you go "a ten-year old with a boner wrote that, didn't he?" (though that's a criticism that can be leveled at decidedly too many smut games; nothing unique to SM). In any case, I find it quite amazing that Cmacleod is still actively coding for the game. While the gameplay gets quite boring as soon as you've gotten a grip on it (every slave basically handles the same unless it's a heavily customized one - again, like Aeris, or Yurika), there's a lot of permutations that keep training slaves fresh for a surprising amount of time. Now, if only the game wasn't unfinished in so many regard still. (I still don't know if the "cow trainer" quest line is just unfinished once her hut is burned down, or if it's tied to be finished with the same slave you start it with, or if there's anything else that's keeping me from advancing it now...)

Between the grind and his love for using chibis in his sex scenes, Akabur ruins a lot of his own games. He wanted to do Princess Trainer completely chibi but decided against it due to fan backlash.

And as for the fights in TLS, I'd say it's pretty well balanced. You can defeat most enemies fairly easily but there's still enough challenge that the battles aren't inconsequential (except for slimes that are intentionally annoying and weak). There's also a limited number of fights, which means you aren't slogging through the same weaklings repeatedly. The more difficult optional areas (spider house, cave hole, and secret bay) have to be won with strategy and a little save scumming, but it should be possible to go back to all of them at some point when you're level is higher.

Not that I know of. There's a playable demo, of course, but I only mentioned it because you had The Last Sovereign on the list, and Blackgate is in much the same state as that game.
