For some reason after refusing the chemists offer to be tested on and parting ways amicably, im able to roam about but it says that im still in combat. included my save so you can see for yourself.

Is this save before or after you noticed the bug? Since loading it in is not giving me the message.
To try and replicate the bug, I had to set a flag for the gabilani pirate's pregnancy so I could get the option to refuse her. When I did, the combat aborted as intended, so I did not run into the bug you've described.
If this is still an issue, can you provide some sample text of the scene right before the bug appears?
