Giving the Zheng Shi slaves weapons?

When I was talking to Tivf about the slaves, he mentioned that the slaves would have little chance of fighting back against the pirates unless they were armed. So I left off freeing the slaves until I found a cache of weapons or something to arm them with so that they would have the best chance. But after going through the station and the main questline, I couldn't find anything. So am I missing something?

Unless something's changed since I last played, the slaves are there only to allow you to disguise yourself as one and blend in with them as they're moved to The Forge's break room.

Arming them might have been the original plan, but I'm not sure if that's the case anymore. And they're not entirely helpless even without weapons; releasing them causes mining robots to become over 10x more rare, and it's possible to find some of them physically and sexually overpowering a Jumper. It gets so bad that management has to send the Star Viper Slavebreakers down to the mines, presumably to keep things under control.
