I play on mobile exclusively, and I am wondering whether or not patches are automatically downloaded, or must uninstall the game and reinstall? Could this possibly end in me losing my save games? Thanks in advance!

You do indeed need to redownload each new patch.
You shouldn't lose your saves, but it's always safest to save-to-file and to not uninstall the old version before installing the new one -- just in case.

Well, I figured out how to update and I follow a certain procedure to make sure it actually happens:
-Download the file
-Delete the app after the file is in my device
-install the file
Works everytime!
Notes: I use a Motorola, an ARM Android. I may just be an oddity with how I have to do things, but that's what works for me.
