What was I doing? First interaction with Tessa in the Tarkus bar. Approached her a few times until the option to talk appeared, clicked "Talk".

I approached Tessa and when the option to talk to her appears, when I press it, the error occurs.

This time I tried not to talk to Tessa, just get closer, so when the option to talk appeared, I turned back and tried to get closer again, it gave an error again.

You probably didn't do anything wrong. The game just crashes sometimes. Even things that worked last version.
Your job as a player is to report things like this, so the coders can do their job and fix it.
Sometimes a save helps. I don't know if it's necessary in this case.

did the main quest, saved the planet, went back, paid in cash, gave to shekka, then i went and talked to tess, thats when it crashed.
