Hey, here's a thread for rating fantasy armor.

Each set of armor will be rated along the following lines:

Style: How good the armor looks.

Practicality: How well the armor would realistically protect.

Verisimilitude: How well it fits within the world.

Overall: My rating of how it is overall.

Anyway, let's start:

Faraam Set

Style: While there are numerous complaints people have about Dark Souls 2, none of them are about this armor set, and it's easy to see why: this is a killer look, what with the fur shoulder wrap, muted green fabric and leather straps that help highlight the shining steel of the armor, the black trousers providing contrast with the lighter shades, and the leather boots, this is a clear winner in my book. The helmet is pretty cool too, providing a Grecian flair. It' a bit dirty though and could use a wash. 4/5

Practicality: The Faraam knight armor is alright protection, being mostly steel plate for the torso and armors with some leather mixed in. The leg's aren't too armored, but the trousers look thick enough that they can help give the wearer a little bit of protection and let them be more mobile. While the armor has a bit of a chest thing going on, it's fairly subtle and is less of a cleavage thing and more of a bump, which is acceptable, and is balanced out by providing a full helmet. 3.5/5

Verisimilitude: Dark Souls is a place full of characters wandering into the foreboding ancient kingdom from across the ages. The dirt shows that this is something worn by a traveler, showing a bit of wear-and-tear. It is described as coming from a lost kingdom, which fits in well enough with how shitty things are for everyone in this miserable world full of undead and sorrow. It also fits in because knights are some of the most common to come to this accursed land and end up tragically dying, so it fits in along those lines too. Overall, this fits in with the world of Dark Souls perfectly. 5/5

Overall: Faraam Set is pretty good set of armor for an Undead Knight, 4.2/5

Daedric Armor (Skyrim)

Style: While the black and red with spikes all over is a classic look, especially for a villain, it's pretty overdone. The design of the helmet is cool and the pauldrons are alright, but that loincloth is an ugly brown, when a vibrant crimson would look so much better. Still, it's a classic look for a reason, and I can't fault it for that. 3/5

Practicality: While obviously, there is the issue of the female version having boobplate, both versions have the issue of looking very uncomfortable to wear with how many sharp points there are. While it should protect well, you can end up cutting yourself on that edge. 3/5

Verisimilitude: The Daedric armor is forged from the hearts of Dremora, who wear similar looking armor. The fact it's so black and red with spikes all over makes sense then, since it's literally created from the organ of a Daedra from a plane of Fire and Flame. It stands out a bit when you're walking through town. 4/5

Overall: It's a pretty neat armor for someone who wants to be edgy, but not really my thing. Still, pretty alright. 3/5

Style: I think its sexy in that kind a way. ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯ 5/5

Practicality: Yeah right... . 1/5

Verisimilitude: Not sure where she got this thing, game is set in a post-apocalyptuic setting so who knows. 2/5

Overall: Product of its time for a mid 90's game. 4/5

Orginal look in 90s glory.

Byleth is best girl.

Style: 5/5. Fashion icon. No wonder all the lords simp for her. Love the tights. Only complaint is the asymmetry with the knee pad and that gold thingy on her chest is chunkier on her in game model. But I ain't knocking off points for that

Practicality: Now you might think the boob window, stomach window, tights, hot pants, heels, and unsecure elbow guards would be impractical. But you would be wrong according the game's canon, because she's apparently a remorseless killer with a high body count. Plus it is actual protection in some places at least. 3/5, more practical than some other characters wear while swinging swords around. But heels are still impractical and that coat would get in the way.

Verisimilitude: In universe, her style is pretty normal. No one ever really comments on it, or are too scared to. And while I don't think it's standard mercenary armor it still fits and looks more practical than Rhea's outfit, who fights in a tight body hugging dress on all but one route, or some of the class outfits. so 4/5. Is either perfectly normal or everyone is to scared and/or aroused to ask her to change and enforce a dress code.

Overall: Fuck averaging and math, I'm giving her a 5/5. Practicality be damned. I love her design. Who says you can't look good while being a socially awkward, ambiguously human, bandit culling teacher? Not me.

Her in-game portrait's eyes look weirdly big but I couldn't represent that here since I used her "FE:Heroes" artwork because it was the only clear full body shot in her default outfit. And it was about outfit/armor so so I ignored it. Btw, for those who haven't played "Fire Emblem: Three Houses", I'm not entirely memeing. It gets confusingly glossed over in all but a few interactions but she is literally known for being a prolific mercenary who never emotes, has a bottomless stomach, no heartbeat, no emotion, knows nothing about herself, feels nothing until later in the game, and apparently just moves on autopilot until the start of the game. It is criminally unexplored about how weird and unsettling she actually is. Still teacher of the millennia apparently, somehow. Probably because she's the only one who actually grinds for exp.
