This might sound stupid, been meaning to ask this for a while but could someone explain, is she really that evil, can someone go into the specifics on her character and story, I'm just really confused, since this is the general consensus of what most people on the forums are saying about her??

Not going into her secrets, others can.
She's objectively evil, but only based on the observer's perception. She's as 'evil' as any other person interacting in the world and game of Savarra, where things would be 'bad' or 'wrong' or 'problematic' in our own world and morals. Does she do 'bad' things? Yes. Is she some villain out harming the average person or blighting crops or trying to dominate the world? No.

Is she some villain out harming the average person or blighting crops or trying to dominate the world? No.
It's never fully explored in the game with what can happen with Matiha, and little snippets given by Komari and Baroness Carmen being the only clues. She'll never really get in the PC's way though. She doesn't want Kass or Tollus to succeed, so will help you.
She's evil but has no interest in making an enemy of the player because we're a) quite dangerous in combat and b) have a lot of influence over nearby politics, e.g. ruling the wayfort, being the official champion of njorhaalt and hawkethorne, possibly being the chosen champion of a living god, etc
Nope. She's my Champs mommy and my Champs are bimbos, so they don't see the her other than the hot mommy who likes to put Nukki's in champs wombs.
In reality, for me I don't think she's evil. Definitely not pure but hey who is. Put her up against Alissa, Tollus and his pathetic followers.. she's a saint.

basically she "punishes" those who wrong her in anyway by stripping them of sound mind and their bodies, turning them into ditzy tanukis who dont remember anything about their previous life, and who are completely obedient to Evergreen, and after Evergreens life cycle is complete she ditches her body and takes over one of the bodies of those she punished, is it evil? from normal point of view yea, but, first of all, half the people on this here forums are OBSESSED with brienne, who you get by brainwashing and forcefully turning brint into a woman, and second of all, i like that she is portrayed as a witch of the woods "i dont bother you, you dont bother me" way, and her actual daughters are absolutely safe from her, she even finds them all cushy jobs where they can laze around and everything

which ia valid, but like, dont point fingers and say "she is the MOST EVIL in this world" but like, you love and adore brienne so is she evil for doing this but you are not? also a lot of people here also want to use evergreens flavour of punishment(minus body snatching and soul transfering) to punish the bad guys so...Yeah! Men specifically. They want to turn guys like Hirrud into another Brienne. Karmic punishment and all that, I get, and I am not going to judge people for a fetish.
But putting Evergreen on some sort of a pedestal of evil when we have Orcs, minotaur and entire world practicing slavery, I just can not picture what she does as anything worse. At worst, it is her enacting her justice.

Despite the claims otherwise, you can enslave the willing.
Ehh, arguable.
a) The relationship can be pursued to a point of considerable submission where a fight would be unnecessary.
b) This has literally never stopped anyone in bad endings. The only one who has given two shits to save us is Kasyrra, and even that only happens like once or twice.
