Unsure if this is the correct location for this, but eh. Long-time CoC2 player, don't post too often, but this came strongly enough to my mind that I wanted to see if other people were thinking along the same lines.
Etheryn and Kiyoko have always stood out to me as being the two companions out of the lot with whom you can have the most romantic, in-depth relationship. In Kiyoko's case you quite literally can marry her, have a whole mess of children, and get integrated into her culture and society. In Etheryn's case, in the event that she has high confidence it's made reasonably clear how she feels about you, from the Wayfort interactions to the Winter City, with NPCs suggesting that she fully intends to marry you if she can - it's why she wants you to have a noble title, to have the legal backing for it.
Where I'm going with this is; as best as I can tell, there's little-to-no interaciton between these two characters. Which always struck me as a bit strange, for a few reasons.
Firstly, there's their religions. Lumia and Keros couldn't -be- more different; I think they're more-or-less diametrically opposed. Lumia is an up-front sun goddess, whereas Keros is -the- Trickster, and I'd be unsurprised to discover his portfolio covers the moon.
Secondly, there's their political situation. The Kitsune are edging into Boreal Elf territory, like it or not; it hasn't come up much as of yet, but I'd be unsurprised to discover there are going to be some political ramifications going on there, especially now that the Boreal Elves are reclaiming lost territory in the form of the Wayfort and reconsolidating themselves.
Thirdly, there's the above romantic angle; both have the possibility of being exceptionally close to the PC, not just physically but emotionally, and both have have their own designs on the Champion's future which may not be mutually compatible.
Fourthly, visually, they are polar opposites; blue versus red, ice versus fire. Even their personalities are more-or-less diametrically opposed, yet at the same time there are odd similarities between them; internal lack of confidence, for instance, and the sheer care they have for the champion.
I could go on, but you get the gist. Between all that they have in common yet how opposed they are, it always struck me as rather odd that the two have very little interaction with one another, even when you take both of them along in the same party. It always seemed like somewhat wasted potential to me; it's a fertile seedbed for something of a rivalry between the two, or even with the champion serving as 'neutral ground' for these two sides to try and find common ground, as Kitsunes and Boreal Elves alike begin to spread and collide against each other.
Is it just me?
