As I sit here debating on editing my save to fix an issue it got me wondering, how many of you play with an edited save, the annoyance of the pop up be damned? What was your reasoning? Did you want to make custom edits to your character, add something to your dick you can't get otherwise (maybe you want demonic nubs on your knotted horse cock?)?

Maybe you just wanted to fix something that hasn't gotten a bugfix yet?

Did something you regret and don't have it in you to start over?

I'm curious.

For me it's this oversight with Karithea's pups, don't get the first birth scene because of how it's counted in the Wayfort. And I'm assuming Kari's counting is the siblings... not the total number of pups, so it bothers me so probably going to fix it myself. Am also debating editing something on my character, but probably won't.

I only really edit stuff that bothers me. Bringing down lip size without alchemy juggling is the most common. But starting race also gets to me every now and then.

For example, on one particular save where I made as prep for the eventual Nareva soulbind, I wanted a frostmander who always was a frostmander for rp reasons. I poked around and found a handful of posts saying there will not be more starting races. After discovering that, I changed the original race for that character to frostmander using the 'pc.originalrace =' command in the console. It's one of my few gripes, solely from the perspective as someone who plays lots of RPGs, table top or other wise, and is used to a bit more freedom in character creating in regards to starting race or background to a certain extent in ttrpg/ttrpg inspired computer games. Like I mentioned in the gripes thread, it's the "you started your adventure as _, and are now _" line that caused me to go down the editing rabbit hole. I haven't run into a lot of problems, since there aren't a lot of scenes that reference your original race, and I tend to stick to starter races on most of my characters, except for the occasional mander or cowgirl. Of course, I do have TF happy blob champs, but it's part of their character. Like my first character who became a dragon for Aileh and Freja.

Again, you can change your race freely with alchemy, able to mix and match more than any other game (except maybe something like Lilith's throne and of course other Fenco games), and if your tism isn't so severe that you get hung up on a single line of text, it's nothing. It doesn't matter to most people in all likelihood, and it doesn't prevent me from enjoying the game, so I find it best to just edit it when it bothers me. And of course, any character I edit is forfeit of any bug reports, which I tend not to post any way outside of spelling errors.

Also, I looked into save editing with the console. It doesn't give you a message when you start the save, which bothered me almost as much as my original problems, but I'm a brainlet, so lots of save back-ups and forum searches. I've learned a lot just reading and interacting with the more java minded people on the forums.

This is a bit ranty, I apologize in advance, but I want to elaborate on stuff I've said before, mostly for the few people who might have the same/similar problems as me searching google for solutions.

So I'm glad you mentioned the console because I didn't think of that. After checking a few old threads it helped me figure out how to make the changes I want without the pop up. Appreciate it.

No problem, man!

I get why the devs are hands off with save editing. But, ideally me and other people can enjoy this game as much as possible despite bugs, accidents, or personal preference, which might mean using save edits. Under that assumption, that's probably the reason the devs don't out right denounce save editing like they do user made plugins, despite save edits being more trouble than they're worth at a certain point from a development stand point.

I hope they don't make it where console use flags your save with the same warning, since by the time most people resort to the console, they are well aware of the downsides of messing with the game.

Think as long as people realize that any bugs they come across should not be reported it should be fine. Plus most people are, in fact, lazy. Not many would go through the process of figuring out and digging through threads when there is a perfectly good editor right there, I'd think those that use the console already are sensible enough to know you lose your bug reporting privileges if you edit.
