So I wanted the Sidewinder, right? I saw that text saying that you leave your old ship behind, and I thought, "Oh, I don't want to leave my Gruss behind" so I went and emptied my storage, sent away all my crew, swapped it for the starter ship, brought it to Zheng Shi, and got the Sidewinder (now titled the "Chaos Dunk").
When I returned, I realized my error when I realized daddy's ship was absolutely nowhere to be found. Is there a way to get it back, or is the ghost of my father going to haunt my ass for the rest of forever?

sadly no. I just keep saving over slot 1, and I saved right after getting the ship.

It's toast. I've done this a couple times myself. Now I usually buy a cheap ship before the run at stealing the sidewinder.

Yeah this is one of those things where the current in place system didn't account for and a first time player wouldn't expect. Don't forget, the game is still in development.

Stealing the Sidewinder is kind of weird, really. You don't lose items in storage or the Sleep Fapnia, Dong Designer, etc. Your crew has no trouble sneaking onboard before you leave.

If you have over 10 crew, you can steal the Sidewinder, but can't actually go anywhere until you evict some people. In space, no less (they actually go wherever they normally go so you can pick them up again). Thinking about it... What if you had a full Clydesdale (50 slots in 5 categories), and stole the Sidewinder (30 slots)?

You'd think crew who know how to pilot ships would be able to take your old one back to Tavros. Paige is a navigator and I don't know if she can pilot, but Kiro and Dane (when we get him) definitely can.

The Editor has some very basic experimental ship stat viewing. Trying to edit will corrupt the save, I'm pretty sure. Maybe in the future, you can edit your CassTech back in, but not right now.
