Just an idea for a race that populates a volcanic planet should the devs ever make one, I'm not currently planning on writing anything for them(others are free to if they wish) I just thought I'd post it. If it's too long for an idea just mention it, I'll try to keep future ideas a bit less descriptive.
At an average of 12 feet in height these gigantic reptilian humanoids are natives of the planet Volkanus(feel free to giggle or blow air out of your nose at the anus part but really the name can be anything), a recently discovered volcanic planet that has broadened the horizons for possible life bearing planets in newly dubbed "hell zones" around red giants. They were in their medieval stage of development when a rusher's ship crash landed on their planet while their religious casts quickly jumped to the opportunity to use the rusher as an excuse to usher the "coming of angels" to obtain more followers, this backfired quite quickly though as the rusher explained the situation and accidentally started a war between those who do and those who don't have faith. A decade has passed since the initial crash and it has become much more peaceful now that their still ruling kings and queens have declared their people to have a universal freedom of choice regarding their beliefs. The volcanic nature of the planet however is still proving it difficult to apply most known technologies, with most power going to cooling off overheating electronics.
Traits: Large reptilian humanoid; digitigrade bipedal leg structure; prehensile crocodilian tail; heat shield obsidian scales covering a red, yellow or black hide; scales at tips of fingers adapted to claws; dorsal membranous spines acting as heat sinks when too hot; draconic, four horned head with reptilian muzzle, retrctable teeth and singular large glowing yellow, orange or red vertical slit eye on the forehead of the skull.
Males: Bulky and muscular, some are slender but faster, rigid and sometimes spiked scale structure. Scales beneath lower lip are elongated to form a faux scaly beard. Genitalia consists of two prehensile penises and four testicles.
Females: Slender but more flexible and curved body structure, scales have a smooth structure and only spike at shoulders, knees and elbows. Genitalia consists of two vaginas and four breasts, originally thought to only be fat stores but later observation revealed that they have internal nipples that extend when in the presence of their young or when they want to subconsciously feed something their mineral enriched milk.
Most species on their planet are reptilian and they are no exception as obtaining heat from their volcanic environment is their primary way of keeping their metabolisms running, that or sleep in a bed of coals as though they require external heat to survive their natural heat resistance means that they need to be in an extraordinarily hot situation to get any sort of heat to their core but at least it lasts long enough that they don't need to constantly be in a figurative oven. Their survival rate outside their home planet is only affected by how long they can keep their temperatures high as most known diseases can't survive in their hot systems and their predatory nature coupled with their large size and strength means they can hunt almost anything, for all their prowess they are still susceptible to cold environments slowing down their metabolisms and even outright killing them in some extremes.
They are a semi oviparous species and lay two to four eggs per clutch with the strange ability for reptiles of any species to be able to produce some form of mineral enriched protein some have taken to calling it their milk, most biologists that studied them think it's only to feed the younger ones until they are able to digest anything solid. Bearing a successful clutch requires constant monitoring of the batch to keep it at the right temperatures and ensure they don't ever get too cold, after hatching the young nurse from the mother for a few weeks before surviving off of "normal" food. After several weeks the young one's teeth and internal digestive system toughens up to be able to eat and digest all of the volcanic glass and other normally undigestables that litters their planet surface which is their primary means to getting the obsidian into their systems and building up their scales, all organisms on the planet evolved to use the various heat resistant materials that are ever present in their environment to protect themselves against extreme heat.
