Confusion about stats

I'm looking at Cait and Kiyoko. Cait: Willpower, 17 Kiyoko: Willpower, 18. Why is Cait's spell power listed at 76 and Kiyoko's at 54 (both are level 5)? I looked through the stats and saw the only thing that affects it is willpower. The only other factor I can think of is...equipment maybe? but I can't view their equipment or change it, but that 22 point difference is pretty big

You can change their gear sets in the Character tab, if they're in your party and have additional gear sets. Kiyoko comes with three gear sets right out of the box. Cait can get one new set from Viviane as of the most recent patch (backers only), and will get a new set at the end of CaitQuest (coming soon™).

I'm playing the steam version, I've noticed Kiyoko's change of sets, but I didn't note any difference between swapping them in terms of the stats (I just double checked, it changes the abilities/powers, but her spellpower stayed 54). As for Cait though, I don't have that ability (I don't think anyone else did, I am guessing thats not implemented in the steam version), even so, its the gear that's basically giving the 22 point difference?

Cait's new gear change isn't in the Steam version yet but Ryn and Brint (not Brienne) both have gear changes available in the current public version.

And yes, it's probably Cait's gear. Companions do have actual items that are equipped and their Gear that's displayed at the bottom of the equipped item list is basically an abstraction of their equipment, their Power list and their stat balancing. The equipment descriptions/stats aren't actually visible in-game but some of the stats can be seen in design docs. It's quite possible that Cait's gear tweaks her Spellpower such that hers is higher than Kiyoko's.

As for why Kiyoko's stats don't change when you swap her Gear, it might be because she was the first companion to have gear changes and hers were all built-in from the start. Or it could be that Tobs just didn't feel like rebalancing her stats for each set, liked how she was as-is and decided that all she needed was different slates of powers.

Not all gear sets change all stats, and I guess Spellpower is one of the things that doesn't change between Kiyoko's various forms. Many of the other ones do. Kiyoko's just got less Spellpower and more other stuff than Cait.

Both of them are perfectly viable companions in the right party compositions.

It is the boobs, OP. I know for a fact that magical energy is always stored there, so bigger and milkier titties equals more power. Seikon no Qwaser would never have lied to me.

You just need to help your fox wife flourish. Also, when she will get her shaman set, Brienne will be unstoppable.

I coincide in the fantasy many times the enchanted female and magical users have great attributes at this point it does not seem a coincidence
