I think I might know what you're thinking but I hope not because it would make you seem really dumb.
Primarily yeah. On its own I wouldn't have thought twice about it, but it being paired with the word "coon" makes it hard for me to see this as a coincidence. I know that coon is short for raccoon, I'm not overlooking that. Without the 88, I would not assume that coon was being used as a racial slur. Without the word coon, I'd assume that the 88 was just her birth year or something. Both things have plausible deniability on their own, but the fact that they're both there feels off to me.
Oh my god I was right you are that dumb. Why is it that people like you have to read racism into everything? You're actively looking for a reason to be offended and when you don't find one you twist things to make it happen. There aren't white supremacists hiding under your bed or working on your text based porn game dude, its an innocuous username that was probably chosen by the writer at random. It has nothing to do with racism and you are in fact tilting at windmills, in fact you've gone full into Don Quixote territory man. You're new here so I'll give you some advice: Next time, before you post consider if what you say is gonna make you look like an idiot, it'll save us all so much hassle.
Regardless of how the username was chosen it does create an unfortunate connotation, that'd take literally couple of keystrokes to remove and nip any further histrionics in the bud.
Or ya know people could stop with the histrionics and stop acting super offended over everything. That'd probably stop this too.

Coon in a different context is a racial slur against black people, this dude is interpreting the 88 to be a reference to 1488, a white supremacist term as a result.
88 is a popular Neo-Nazi reference and "coon" is also used as heavy racial slur. The combination of two such potentially loaded factors is... not great.
I kind of wish the same drive to get the writers to remove ''offensive'' stuff from the game was instead directed towards getting them to change certain elements of the lore that make no sense or mechanics that don't work.

Ah, that is an unfortunate coincidence, assuming it is a coincidence. I'd imagine it definitely is one in-universe, since literally no-one seems to give a shit about the concept of ethnicity (and most humans/half-humans probably have rather mixed ancestry by this time); "coon" is much more likely to be a reference to her being half kui-tan. Though I don't think the 88 is her birth year; that would make her 39 years old, and I'm pretty sure she's in her early 20s.
You... you guys know it's because she's a raccoon, right? Like that's obviously the reason.
