Carol's Quest?

I just met the mountain spirit Carol in the High Mountains today and got her key for her metal friend, but when I returned, she was dead.
Did I take too long to complete the quest? I might have to start a fresh game 'cause I can't let that happen. It was hours ago when I first got the quest, anyway.

I am very confused by the Xianxia wiki. Is this the wiki for the Xianxia mod or the whole game? Because the smutosaur wiki, which I thought was the official wiki, has no info on Carol whatsoever.

Still, looks like I'll be starting over, which is okay. I've just gotta be aware of time constraints for that quest. Really wish there was more information for this game, like guides and stuff. Though I can understand that this was basically a prototype of a game.

The Smutosaur wiki is out of date because nobody cares enough to complete a wiki for a very, very dead and done game (and even the CoC2 and TITS wikis update slowly). Also notice that not even that wiki page tells you the full details of the quest, like having a time limit to complete it.
