If you're a tech specialist, try chain-stunning her, and otherwise having lots of frost resistance. If you're a mercenary, second wind can restore hp to help protect from that. If you're a smuggler, you should hopefully be evading those (can those be evaded? if not I can imagine this fight being super hard on smuggler).
But yeah, it's a move which is brutal for tech specialists especially, since they tend to rely more heavily on shields, and don't have a way to restore hp, and she just invalidates them.

I don't know when you fought her, but Stuns (& Paralyzing Shock) were specifically made less reliable:
•[HOTFIX: Build #2502+]: EvilBun has gained the “Juggernaut” perk to better resist stuns (and her physique was increased to 45 from 27 – don’t worry, with the sword nerf from last patch, her melee should be doing less damage overall.)

For most enemies in the game, Resistance is a secondary consideration at best. Having to stack a specific resistance is very annoying, especially if it's not telegraphed you might need to. Make sure to buy a Hardlight Bodysuit/plate from Rivet, I guess.
Hopefully, Level 11 (and maybe 12) will be added along with the Dhaal Story Dungeon.

Hardly the right forum for this in my opinion but regardless:

The black furred Jumper is deliberately designed to have counters to each class in the game. Without prior knowledge you're pretty likely to get stomped in round one if you find yourself in her pitfalls. The information you're needing is in her combat texts, but I'll go through the main points.

The big ticket item is of course her cutting edge Cryosword that deals (exclusively) Freezing Damage on top of a Shield Bypass flag. The necessary adaptation being to pack gear with a high resistance, of which you have a fair set of options. Kor'diiak, Frostwyrm-related pieces, one or two others as I recall. You could even double/triple down with your undergarments or an accessory for even more, but maybe keep the total malus to Burning in mind if your shield goes down.

The rest of her damage is Kinetic and Burning, so Urbolgs' prototype fits the bill cleanly enough outside of Smuggler Steeles perhaps. Not super well versed in the finer points on a class to class basis, but you might be able to use it regardless if you find some more evasion to compensate.

Her resistances are somewhat novel. Packing Kinetic or Freezing is ill advised, as her vulnerabilities are Burning/Corrosive/Poison (the latter two primarily) as far as her hp is concerned. Her shield resists none of those as well. You can in theory cut her hp's absurd Kinetic resistance down with teasing (which at current is near pointless but her doc had more about this) or just go for lust wins. I never bothered with tease personally but it's probably the easiest way through the encounter. (Heavy Slut Ray for an example stuns and does solid lust buildup with high Aim, but does not work with Second Shot unless you use Rapid Fire as a Mercenary, which can end the fight in almost two rounds.)

Under the assumption you're playing TS or Smuggler (with proper evasion) that should cover up your hp weaknesses for the fight proper. Her unique counters to Smuggler involve your specials, provided they're implemented. If you aren't rocking stun weapons as applicable to your build you could try it, but she can shake them off quick ala Mercenary. (Ranged) Mercenary just bulldozes the encounter like every other encounter, but if you're annoyed with her evasion/ not using a Bonus Hit Rate weapon just use the Eyepiece MkII from the Forgehound.

Beyond that the biggest potential blowout is her unique win condition, which if implemented as per her public doc has some nuance to it, but if you really want those/all the details you can go through her public doc here. (Though this obviously gives up the ghost on most things about her, discrepancies notwithstanding.)

I wholeheartedly agree! Sophora is not only absurdly overpowered, but also a downright nuisance. I defeat her, walk two literal squares over on the map in a hazard area and she can respawn and attack me again, it's ridiculous. And she doesn't just stay put on Zheng Shi, she spawns anywhere there's a hazard area, again and again, ad nauseum. I could grudgingly accept it if Sophora appeared once per in-game day, or better yet once per in-game week. But moving two bloody squares over on the map and having her respawn is beyond ridiculous. Every playthrough I do now, I just take the easy way out and select "she's crazy" after defeating her on the first encounter. There's no reason NOT to disable Sophora after that first fight. She carries no lootable items, she's not preg-able, and she's not part of any quests. And did I mention she shows up FAR too often? Her sole reason for existing in the game seems to be to punish players who were foolish enough to NOT select "she's crazy" upon beating her that first encounter.

The only reason I am putting up with her is because there's teasers for more content and a potential quest with her.

However, if you did not remove her from your game when you first fought her, you can still be rid of her, according to William's notes. If you really regret not dismissing her right away, make a save in case I am wrong, then fight her, >lose<, leave and go about your business until certain disconcerting events happen, fight her again, >win<, and then pick the option that will remove her from your game. I am being vague because I do not want to spoil things.

That's literally what I do to beat her - it barely creates an advantage, but against a hard fight like that, anything that gains you a further advantage of turns (and when it works it does usually remove 2 of her actions for 1 of your own, sometimes only 1, and sometimes 3, so it's worth it) is worth building around.
