The tab said Ideas, people who don't usually use forums will make this mistake, sorry. I believe I put it in the correct place now. What the Idea Subforum Is For
The Ideas Subforum exists as a place to pitch concepts you intend to work on to the community, receive feedback and criticism on them, and then refine your ideas into a workable outline for the content you're going to be making. This is not a place to pitch ideas for characters/items/etc. you...forum.fenoxo.com
Hey, all I need is for a talented writer with no actual ideas of their own to find out about my idea for a candy cane dick transformative, and…You will never get every single person, or even most people, to understand that they're talking into the void when they pitch an idea.
Ironically 90% of people who see the name of this sub-forum get the wrong idea, and its entire conceit is stupid. There was never anything wrong with having a place where people could blue sky stuff they were likely never going to work on. If people have an idea in the sense of something they really intend to do something about, they'll create an actual thread for it! It's not as if we have an overwhelming number of those right now.
Honestly at this point I see this sub forum as a sort of dumbass filter to keep these kinds of threads out of the main lines.Really the fundamental flaw is that nobody publicly workshops an idea they're actually going to write, they just start writing it. If you actually have the passion for a concept required to write even just one paragraph, you don't need a bunch of strangers on the internet to tell you it's a good idea. That means that all that was ever going to go here was people pitching ideas they had no intent to write, because anyone who had any actual intent to write would be over in Event Submissions.
Now, some people seem to be under the impression that if they pitch an idea that they have no intent to write, then someone else will write it for them, but that's a separate issue and a basically unsolvable one. You will never get every single person, or even most people, to understand that they're talking into the void when they pitch an idea. You might as well give them a void to talk into somewhere, and while by now it's well established that that's What Content Would You Like Added, it's not like the Ideas subforum has served any other purpose than being that same void but with every pitch followed by someone telling them to pitch it again somewhere else.
