Best Place to Start (Advice Request)

Hi, I'm a new forum member, but I've been playing TiTS for a while now. I created a forum account because I'd like to start making some content for the game. I have a few ideas, but I figure it's best to start as small as possible so I can get a hang of the writing style, format, and parser. I have some experience with writing both smut and parsers, but not a ton.

What I'd like is some advice on the best place to start in working on content.

My current ideas:
  • Some NPCs. This is obviously not the place to start, because it is longer and more complicated. This is more an eventual end goal.
  • Adding content to some early existing NPCs that are pretty barebones. Since I have to ask the original creator's permission to play, I'd rather have shown my work before I jump into this. (Though as a side question, if a character scenes are credited to 'probably Fenoxo', I assume I ask Fenoxo but is there anything else I should do to try to make sure?)
  • Enemy win/loss encounters. I don't know if people are considered the owners of enemy races the way they are of their NPCs, so I'm not sure who to ask for permission about, for instance, writing another scene for the naleen male.
  • Anonymous encounters. For instance, I have some ideas about scenes that could have a chance to proc when approaching the stocks on New Texas, where someone is already in the stocks and Steele can join in using them. Other anonymous encounters could be gloryhole options, or just coming across people on various tiles.
Any advice on where to begin? (Other than just start on something, since I'm already definitely doing that.) What is the best way to get my footing here?

Write what you want.

That's what most people will tell you, but don't get too ahead of yourself. If you plan writing an NPC, start off with something small, and then you can submit that and build on them later when you feel like you're ready to write more, and try to avoid any sort of feature-creep. You won't enjoy writing very much if you're forcing yourself to write something you don't want to write/someone else wants you to write.

(Though as a side question, if a character scenes are credited to 'probably Fenoxo', I assume I ask Fenoxo but is there anything else I should do to try to make sure?)

Some scenes may have "probably fenoxo" as their author, but the character my belong to something else. The Wiki might have the information you need on that.

I don't know if people are considered the owners of enemy races the way they are of their NPCs, so I'm not sure who to ask for permission about, for instance, writing another scene for the naleen male.

You should go to the male Naleen's author, then.

Also, judging from this thread I'm guessing you've already seen these threads, but if you haven't:

How to Submit and Write Content
Legal Stuff

This game's community is very supportive of new/current writers, and I'm sure they'd be willing to ask if you help.

You already got the idea. Start small, then work your way up. The most important thing is that you enjoy what you`re writing.
Also as Hugs said, the community is(most of the time) very supportive of writers, new and old, so don`t be afraid to ask questions.

Just out of curiosity, what do have plans about writing?

Thank you guys :)

Thank you, I didn't realize they might have different info.

You should go to the male Naleen's author, then.
If the wiki lists multiple creators, I assume that means getting permission from all of them, then?

I'd mainly like to add more dude/PC content. My main idea for an NPC would be a twink-y core world boy who has just decided to set off and seek his fortune/good sexings, who Steele can sort of mentor in debauchery. He'd be on Tavros and you could raise/lower his tendencies toward exhibitionism and sluttiness.

I'd also like to write a professor/scientist type dom character. If I got permission I'd like to add some scenes of that type to Julian Haswell, but if not I could spin it into its own character.

Otherwise, I'd really just like to add not full NPCs but just encounters/scenes that are more along the lines of my kinks for overstimulation, begging, doms esp female doms getting penetrated, and rimming, to name just a few.
