Backer Builds on Steam?

I just brought the $5 backer build on Patreon, but I've mostly been playing COC2 on steam. While I downloaded the most recent patch as of writing, when I launched from the patch file it had none of my steam saves, so I'm wondering how I update my steam game with the backer build. I don't want to mess up my saves so I figured it would be best to ask before I did anything I can't undo.

If you look through the backer patches on Patreon, usually the last patch of the month will have a backer code for you to enter. You take that code, go into the Steam library, right click on CoC2, and go into Betas. That will have a spot for you to enter this month's backer code.

I believe this month's backer code was in the 0.5.20 post.
