Attempt 10^13 to make the Gray Goo Armor endgame viable

What if "Nova" suddenly came to the realization that she's seen so much armor and equipment during her travels with Steele, that once they set foot on Phaedra 2, that she figured out how to copy armor traits from stuff that Steele has in their inventory.

Mechanically wise that would mean, that Steele shows her a piece of armor and she copies every stat of that armor onto herself. These stats may not be changed via the usual ways of changing the exposure grades of the armor or other visual changes, to take unnecessary workload off the programmers.
Just a 1 to 1 copy of the piece that was shown to the Gray Goo Armor. Maybe let her keep her traits that she's acquired through other means, but that's that.

what's there to give feedback on? you've spouted out an idea, that you have no way of working on yourself, and has no actual balance attached to it. it's literally just "this thing, but more" which happens to be the purpose of the mentioned thread.

Very good, very good. We're getting there.

Why would you assume that the games balance would be affected by copying over the stats of one armor item to the Gray Goo Armor? You know, I only ever do serious playtesting with the smuggler class, so I might very well have not considered balance when it comes to the other classes.

I would be interested in hearing your opinion.

i explicitly said there no balance related to it

to explain myself further, i interpreted your idea as indiscriminate copying of stats; meaning if certain stats can be downgraded based on what she's copying. therefore there's no impact on balance because armor with those stats already exist and are, presumably, already balanced. now you just have the gray goo personality/content attached to it. out of combat benefits are irrelevant, it simply removes the step of keeping her in inventory and swapping for said benefits, then swapping back

if that is not what you meant, then sure, there's a question of balance.

regardless, you're not going to be making this yourself, and she's considered feature complete. so i maintain that this still belongs in the aforementioned thread

That is not true. I would definitely not mind writing a short 1-pager scene how "Nova" suddenly grasps how she can copy other armor items. My idea would have to be somewhat well received for that though, which currently does not seem to be the case.
I just went by how many players in the bug section alone have her equipped on their save files, so I would hope there's some emotional attachment to the item at least.


€: I posted my response before your edit was uploaded. So let me add this too. Thanks a lot though for always keeping up with the dev posts to keep us informed.

This might be one of those moments, where it shows that english isn't my first language, but I would interpret what Savin wrote as that "Nova" is feature complete for him, but not that others cannot pick up where he "completed" their work. Thanks to your your link, I see now though that I would have to ask him myself for that.

Would any of you mind if I were to write a scene for the Gray Goo Armor, where she figures out how to copy other armor items? Would that be a problem mechanically or lorewise? I would not write anything that changes the characters personality.

not only that, i highly doubt anybody is going to complain about more content, unless they dont like the content but in that case they weren't the target audience anyway
