I was wondering if there is any non-save editing way I'm unaware of to complete the Bothrioc Diplomacy quest at 100% addiction without meeting the Bad End of joining Fei's harem. I've tried and failed, since it seems you are locked in accepting to join at max addiction (you get no chance to give the substitute offer). This seems unfair to me, since Bothrioc addiction was added to the game a long time before the quest was written and its buildup is irreversible. My PC got max addiction a long time before the quest was written, and I'm not going to give up the quest or search for a very old, pre-bothrioc save and redo a truckload of character development since then just to get around this stumbling block. As I see it, there should be a way to grandfather or loophole a fully addicted PC out of the bad end. As things stand, a player in this condition seems forced to save edit one's way out of the trap. There seem to be two ways of doing so: either one hacks the addiction value to less than 100 before meeting Fei, or one removes the variable indicating the PC's acceptance to join the harem, before the meeting.

You can buy something from charles to help with addiction, but according to his text it may not be all that effective on repeated uses.

As the wiki itself says, you cannot buy it if you are already at 100% addiction, so no, this doesn't work, either.

The only thing I can suggest is you save edit it - which you already have done, according to your response in the quest thread. You make a very fair point about players who already have gotten 100 addiction not being prepared for this, and if I had the wherewithall I'd definitely get Jacques to grandfather everyone down 2% so they'd be able to do it. Unfortunately, I don't think it's possible. We have put in a better warning at the point of no return, though.

EDIT: It would be good if you specified exactly how you save edited, so other people can do the same.

Well, after analyzing the quest document and doing a few experiments, I've identified two possible ways of save editing a 100% addiction PC out of the bad end trap. I've tried one and it works, tested the other and it seems more problematic. Both are fine to do with TiTsEd. One method involves looking for the flag "Join_Feian_Harem" in the Flag list and erase it (remove the flag entirely, changing its value won't work), after you talked to Fei but before you report your success to Ara Kei. During the meeting, the game shall then interpret the save as if you had talked Fei into accepting the possible alternative to joining their harem (using transformatives to give them male or female genitals, random chance of either) that should be available at less than 100 addiction score, and the quest shall be completed without the bad end.

Another method involves lowering your "Bothrioc_Addiction" score in the Flag list to some value lesser than 100 before talking to Fei. I don't recommand trying this because it is much more complex to use (if you got egg-stuffed by the other quadrommes, your addiction score keeps raising during the egg pregnancy, so it is entirely possible it raises back to 100 before meeting Fei, especially if you got multiple pregnancies) and I was unable to meet Fei (game told me Fei "was away at the moment" in their chosen location). I have no idea if the absence of Fei was related to my messing with the addiction score (theoretically speaking, it should not; Fei should appear at any addiction level), a random fluke of my save, or a bug.

My save edit experiments indicate grandfathering everyone into a slightly lower addiction score would in practice be a flawed solution. What would be truly necessary is to adjust the quest decision tree about Fei's meeting to allow offering them an alternative to joining their harem regardless of addiction score.

From my PoV, to punish players by stripping them of the ability to avoid a bad end at maximum addiction isn't very fair or functional given the way bothrioc stuff got added to the game and the lasting way TiTS deals with addictions, nor really important to the quest's structure or the balance of the game. My earnest suggestion to you, Jacques, and Fen to solve this problem would be to edit the quest and allow the ability to offer Fei an alternative to harem joining regardless of addiction score.

You can use the in game cheat code idclev. Using this cheat will pull up a textbox to enter a teleportation location i recommend entering. SHIP INTERIOR. This puts you inside your ship. I only did this after the summit had finshed and was told to go across town. So that way id completed all the scenes except the ones with Fei. This doesn't complete the quest though it just gets rid of the bad end by making the summit last forever.
