I'll throw my two cents in. I'd definitely posit that the ME:U is actually fairly far behind in technological terms when compared to TiTs. TiTs is rampant with holotech where as ME only really has a select few things such as the omnitool and the galactic map. weapons in ME all rely on the same principle of the mass relay gates, so you've basically have nothing but gauss type weapons and possibly even still normal propellent projectile weapons, while TiTs has a plethora of proliferated weapons technology up to and include plasma, laser, and gauss type weapons. Biotics have advanced highly in TiTs as the power has increased while size has decreased the chip we pull from that milodian chap is roughly the size of a postage stamp or large SD card, while in ME biotic amps are still as large if not larger than current computer chips and first generation amps actually work better than new generations. Ship technology is where it gets weird as some ship tech in ME is right at or Surpassed what we've seen in TiTs while having parts that have fallen behind, in TiTs we're able to travel at close to light speed while in ME it's fast but nowhere near that fast, but cloaking and stealth capabilities in ME are right at TiT's level.
i'll comment more when i'm off work.
now that i'm off i'll wax a little bit more eloquent. Firstly you'll need to figure which one is being put into which, is it TiTs with ME elements or is it ME with TiTs elements? That will be your ultimate decision. secondly you'll need to decide the genre for the fiction, it'll be sci-fi and lewd as a given, but will it be action adventure, mystery, romance, comedy, or tragedy?
Best tip i've gotten for writing is this; make an outline, write an overall synopsis, give a premise for each chapter, make a list of characters and important figures with a short summary of each for quick reference. I know you've said that you've had trouble in the past writing and i've found that structuring really helps, and if you've hit a patch that you feel is a bit sparse, like a chapter where character exposition is the bulk of the content but somehow feels empty or short, i've found it's good to describe the character reactions in detail.
