Any hope for trigger warnings involving kinks

So I just did Tessa's first flirt scene and had a panic attack while reading what was happening.

That was like 20 minutes ago and I still have to constantly fix typos cause my fingers refuse to calm down.

There was a broad warning at the start up screen.

So yeah. Tessa is... something alright.

You're not gonna get a whole lot in terms of trigger warnings outside the start up screen tbh and then that's for fetishes, not triggers. Sucks to hear the character gave you a panic attack tho. (Tho I'm sitting here wondering what the hell happened there to warrant a reaction like that now, lucky for me she's in the git)

Sensory depravation and "death edging".

Just the fact that in the scene where you get to decide to go through with flirting you ask her if it's going to be a repeat of the alley scene and she says that it's not. Then actually it's just that and more.

Just the lack of option to back out when it becomes apparent just what she means to do.

i feel like you should have stopped after she initially threatened to kill you, imo that is a pretty big warning

I can understand if that freaks folks out tbh, certainly is NOT my cup of tea. I always heard Tessa was an outlier of a character to say the least in terms of who she appeals to. The sensory deprivation is one thing (Like I'm into blindfolds and shit so...) but yeah I'm skimming the github and the "death edging" as you mentioned I'm definitely seeing now. However the thing is the alleyway scene was clearly her giving you an idea of what you're dealing with, "A taste" as it will, like she said.

I'm not blaming you at all for being affected by her hard niche kink btw, a knife to the throat threatening you in sexual stuff or a gun on your back as foreplay is only for those not for the faint of heart. It's just the alley scene if you read it again was actually the big sign post that showed what you were getting into with her. And Tessa doesn't seem like the sorta girl to be joking around as I skimmed her writing (Which you probably would've gotten a feel for with talking to her).
If you didn't stop there and kept going further after seeing that scene, I actually dunno what I can say to help you there. x.x;

I hoped there would be a vanilla option and if not then give a chance to chicken out and not subject my character to that before I get the chance to see all the cards.

Example with Blue, another character written by Fr0sty. You get to see Little Blue and decide if you want to proceed. You already probably know that Blue is male, same how you know that Tessa is psychotic, but with Blue you are not forced to play out the sex scene before you are fully aware of what you're yourself getting into.

Tessa literally puts a knife at your throat and a gun at your back in the initial alleyway scene man.
That's a pretty BIG thing to push on someone to let them know what you're up against in bed later. As I do not think anyone else does that. Tessa is an intense character, and you outta have gotten that vibe when you saw her threaten to pull a gun on you or pull her knife out in talks.
The alleyway scene was your signpost and you decided to keep going regardless of how intense it was. That was your chance to "chicken out", just don't press on flirting with her after that, you literally have the choice to. If that scene didn't tell you "Oh shit this isn't my cuppa", again idk how to help you. >.>

Lorelei does the knife thing if you don't have the reflexes, but Tessa is too cool for failure. She was just showcasing her unparalleled skillz. And the gun was for when she didn't want the company of a stranger, who might have been sent to deal with her by someone close to one of her hits. She calms after she realizes Steele doesn't know that she's an assassin.
I was just expecting a way out if she indeed did want to repeat the alley scene like she said she would not do.

Also, moving forward, if you're not getting a warm & fuzzy with any future encounters with anyone else, take a knee and ask us here about what you can expect.

It's mostly fine. Usually the tool tip tells gives the right idea of what to expect, but here it was basically "yeah, go for it", while the other bdsm scenes have an explicit warning.
Just this and Shizuya quest that really bother me to the extreme.

I don't think much would be lost by slapping an explicit warning before those two scenes. The only things remotely similar in the game are Akane and the muppet sadist I forget the name of, and both those do come with explicit warnings. And we get so, so many complaints about Shizuya.

I really don't want anyone having a panic attack reading this stuff, when it's supposed to be something people are reading to have fun with.

Yeah it sounds like the issue is a lack of eject buttons more than warnings. Though we've been doing "hey something's going up your ass in this scene" tooltip warnings for a while now so particularly weird shit getting it called out in their tooltips isn't out of place.

Those are great tooltips, both as a warning for those that want to avoid anal like the plague... and as a beacon for those who love anal.
