Android version - too small with white on white text

I've poked around everywhere I can think to and I can't figure out how/if I can fix these issues.
The screen has really thicc borders around it which makes the text unreadably small. I may be playing on a phone but it's a chonker of a phone.
I can't zoom in or anything for the sort either.
This is the case for both android apk and web browser versions.

The other issue is that the text is white and the background it's on is very very light. Still poking around trying to fix that one.

I fixed the font color by switching to light mode.
If there's a way to avoid needing to do this it'd be cool to know but it's a lump I can deal with.

Could you post a screenshot so we know what you're working with? Also, in the menus there's the option to change font size...

the borders swallowing the screen is by far the most pressing issue.

Well the borders are intentional, though don't ask me why. The text color is definitely not supposed to be white. It might be something on your end, what device are you playing on?

Alrighty, I feel like a derp. The options menu doesn't open until you get through the first bit of the game, my bad.
I've got the dark mode and font size fixed. If there's a way to use more of the screen that'd be sweet but it's definitely playable now.

Ah, yeah. We were running under the assumption you had a file past the starting point. It's all good.
