This is the third save file in 0.9.x that I've experienced this with, where at some point around the third probe part of the game all combat options lead to the game crashing. I've tried updating to the latest public build and diving into the file at the given character value to see what particular variable was not being read correctly, but it doesn't seem to correspond in the way I expected.

General context
* All three affected saves were characters that were pretty constantly breeding or being bred

Context for this particular save:
- Was just bred by the Renvra before the issue manifested in this save
- Had two strange interactions with the strange egg
- I think I was carrying eggs when the tentacle event took place
- After birthing the tentacles, the other pregnancy resumed, but with an insane time-to-delivery
- At a later point when returning to Tavros, the tentacle event occurred again, but the strange egg which was in my inventory at the time disappeared (maybe this is normal, but I don't think it disappeared the first time)
