I'm setting up an initiative that allows adult creators to promote each other (allowing everyone involved to grow and make cooler stuff). There's a lot a I could say but the "About and instructions" below likely says it all.

If you want to join you'll need to make a discord account since that's where we're grouped up at the moment, it's all free and no hassle though.

As much as I like the idea, I think you are being a bit elitist with your requirements. $250 a month or 50 patrons "to eliminate the new people". Those are the very people that could have been benefited by something like this. For example, My Patreon is at $129 a month with 18 Patrons after 1 month when I told people the first release of the new version was going to be at the end of April. I expect that number to rise by double when I release at the end of April and am ready to do monthly releases, and could benefit by a nod by a fellow game maker.

There could be issues with people sniping talent from smaller or floundering projects.

If you can't pay your minions beer money yet, it is probably a bad idea to let them hang out with people that can.

Is there really such a worry that employees will leave for more popular projects? Even if it happens, I can't help but think that it would be better if some failing projects would pull the plug a bit sooner than currently happens. It feels like there's a tide of zombie patreons just shambling along, being held alive by donors who probably forgot they were donating in the first place.

It's not to eliminate new people, it's to draw the bottom line somewhere so quality is (hopefully) maintained. What I see right now is that the majority of new Patrons suffer from never surviving the first few months. Many are also prone to not updating, having a Patreon page that is devoid of constructive info, lacking art and/or mock-ups etc. The concept of this "scratch each other's backs" cross-promotion is only a good idea if such projects are not part of the pool, since creators are presenting projects to their active Patrons - which in my opinion means it has to be of a certain quality to not damage their reputation.

Then there's the mutual benefit part of drawing a bottom line. If someone has 15 Patrons it is unlikely the promotion this person does will lead to much (if anything) for another creator. So trade-wise it makes no sense. Don't get me wrong, I'm not at all above spreading the good word on the work someone else is doing (assuming I like it), I did that for two people alreadt and have had some other creators mention me in that way - it's all love as far as I'm concerned. I just think that's a very different thing from what I am setting up here (matching creators at roughly the same level support).

All in all it has nothing to do with elitism at all. I don't feel very elite, and I doubt I ever will.

I'm not at all afraid anyone working with me would leave. In most cases I'd be happy if they found additional gigs for other projects - puts more money in their pockets, all good in my book. I totally agree with the latter you said btw :)

Sounds like an interesting idea. It might be a good way to bring people with the intention to cooperate together, without having to search and write to every other hentai creator on patreon until you can find someone.
Especially for someone like myself, who works on the game alone and struggles with advertising, this might be a good chance. :)

I hope I qualify soon.

Yes starting up can be extremely rough. One thing you should definitely do is post your stuff on forums like this (in a non-spammy way of course). If you have art to show also consider setting up a Tumblr and Hentai Foundry account, such things helped me start up, although I confess it will always be a game of luck as well (if the right person decides to promote you crazy things can happen).

Agreed.

Yeah, things are changing for us rapidly, and all because of the generosity of this community. We're not even a day into the launch of the Patreon, yet the pledgers are coming out of the woodwork. I know it's a bit early yet, Yron, but I wonder if we might collaborate now? Surely if would benefit us both greatly, you with your game about feminine sexuality and us with our more masculine energy.

I can definitely give you a post on my tumblr and a shoutout to my people on Discord if you like? Is there any art of your project that makes for a good piece of seduction?

That would be delightful.

Hmm... Seductive art. You mean porn? We've got one in the works so far. For now, how about we use the stuff in our thread? Would a writing sample help too? Maybe one straight, one gay?

I actually asked this of you before I saw your thread, so that perhaps explains it ;) I'll snatch what I can find, I doubt the audience on Tumblr cares a ton for the writing, they're generally in a state of "quick impressions". Can you perhaps pm me a link to the current version, so I at least know what I'm talking about?

Sure. Some people are having issues with map mode, other's aren't. I sincerely hope you don't. If you do, I hope you'll forgive a pre-alpha! :D
LOL I know all about alpha woes ;) No worries, I just want to get a feel of the general idea of things^^

I think I'll pass. It feels disingenuous to promote another creator because they were assigned to me, regardless of whether I think their work is any good.
