I've been wondering this about kui-tan.
Are they based on raccoons,tanukis or both?

Their name is an anagram of tanuki, but aesthetically they are based off of raccoons.

Yeah I’m pretty sure that Emerald is right, now I know zilch about Tanuki but I’m pretty sure that their big balls and unique cocks are a Tanuki thing but the whole Nuki-Nuts thing is probably something unique to the Kui-Tan.

Physically they resemble raccoons more than tanuki/japanese raccoon dogs, which I would have prefered they did.
