A Question About Zil Genitals (Where do they go?!)

Alright so I'm writing some fanfiction based on TiTs and I am trying to work out the mechanics of the Zil penis and balls. In the wiki it says that they have retractable chitin plates that cover their crotches, fine. I can totally see that being plausible. For the females.

But I can not for the life of me figure out how, say, Kane can go from this:

How does this work? Where do they go? The obvious answer is that they are sucked back into the body somehow, probably into some kind of sheath, but question is how?

There just shouldn't be enough room in the body for that, especially if the Zil are anything similar to humans internally, which the game suggests to be the case since Zil and humans can breed and produce offspring with little issue.

I suppose the art could just be inaccurate as for as that goes, or maybe I'm just overthinking it. After all this is a porn game where under the right circumstances your testicles can swell to the size of a small car if you don't cum often enough.

Even so, accepting that this is a porn game and logic should just be thrown out the window altogether, how could retractable chitin plates for the genitals be made plausible? The best I can come up with is either internal testicles with a retractable penis inside a sheath.

What about you all? Anybody else have any ideas? Maybe some where external testicles are feasible along with retractable chitin plates?

Busts aren't always 100% accurate (particularly those of Adjatha, who tends to exaggerate penis sizes and waist thinness), so I wouldn't rely on them as a source of minute lore details unless backed up with other material.

As for your question, I'd say: partial retraction of both the penis and the testicles when both are flaccid, with the chitin covering the parts that remain unretracted, producing an appearance similar to having a bulge in one's pants.

Also, people in TiTS, regardless of species or sex, are easily capable of taking much larger insertions than a flaccid zil male's penis, so I could definitely see there being enough 'extra space' inside a zil male's body for complete retraction.

Yeah I was wondering about that too. I just assumed that the plates either slipped into some skin folds that are normally nearly invisible to the naked eye or they slipped up under the more permanent chitin plates.
