At midnight, Roc opens his eyes, and looks down at Brenna's sleeping form. His chest felt... Cold. Dead. As if his heart had stopped beating. His eyes shift to the side as he slowly lifts the blanket and slides out of bed to get dressed.
"So you're going to do it." Shiva says, and Roc can sense a little approval in his voice.
He nods and clips his training saber to his belt before opening the door and walking out before closing and locking it, leaving Brenna alone inside his room.
Quietly, he stalks the hallways of the temple like a shadow, moving until he reaches his master's room. He doesn't have to knock, as Sora senses his presence and opens the door. "Roc. Come in." He says, stepping aside.
Roc walks in and turns. "So. My task. What is it?" He asks, his hands clasped in front.
"Show me your lightsaber first." Sora says. Roc holds out his training saber.
"No, you idiot. I'm surprised you're still carrying that around! I mean your real lightsaber. With the crystal you got from the cave!" He says.
"I... Haven't gotten around to it yet..." Roc mutters.
Sora sighs and shakes his head. "Okay... Come with me. We'll get your lightsaber made." He says, turning to walk out of the room. Roc follows him as he walks deeper into the temple, casting his eyes to the sides every now and then to check if they're really alone. Finally, they come to a room full of various mechanical parts required for creating lightsabers.
"Okay. Now that we're here... What kind of a lightsaber do you want?" Sora asks, turning to Roc.
"Ah... Well... A staff, curved grip... And crossguards. And it should split in the middle for dual wield." Roc says.
"Hmm... Okay... Now... What kind of grip are you thinking? We have a lot of different kinds of grip. Chaurus plate, Mandalorian iron, Brylark bark, and some standard metals." Sora says, pulling a drawer open and placing bunch of basic components on the table. Then, he takes out the grips, and Roc's eyes immediately lock onto the black and purple Chaurus plates. "That one." He says, his finger flying straight out to point at the Chaurus plates. Sora nods and leaves the plates out before putting the rest of the materials back into the drawer. "Okay. You know you need two crystals for a lightsaber staff, right? And you just have one." He says.
"Ah... Damn. I don't suppose you have another?" Roc asks. Sora chuckles and places a purple crystal on the table. "You owe me 1000 Republic credits, kid..." He says, stepping away. "Now go ahead and make your saber. Let the Force guide you. Feel it flow through you, and let it do the work. And for god's sake don't put the emitter on backwards." He says.
Roc steps forward and closes his eyes, letting the Force flow through him and into the lightsaber at the desk. He feels for the parts, slowly putting piece after piece together. Finally, a completed lightsaber staff falls into his outstretched hand. "Wait. Before you turn it on..." Sora takes long steps towards the back of the room, until he's standing next to the door. "Okay! Go ahead!" He says, holding up a thumb.
Roc rolls his eyes and turns on the saber, and twin beams of a bright purple shoot out from the ends, along with two crossed beams beneath each blade. He grins in satisfaction as he beholds his completed lightsaber, before turning it off and clipping it to his belt.
"Oh. You didn't explode. Congratulations on creating your first lightsaber! Although it took you damn near an hour to finish it." Sora says, tilting his head to the clock, which now read 1 AM.
"Oh damn. It took that long? Whoa..." He mutters.
"Ah. It's nothing. I've seen people take hours to finish. And they usually end up putting the emitter on backwards!" He says, chuckling.
"Well... Now what?" Roc asks.
"Now... I want you to go and deliver this package to Barriss Offee. That Mirialan you bumped into this morning. She'll be waiting at the train station." Sora says, handing Roc a package.
"Er... Okay. I'll be back soon." He says, nodding and taking the package. It felt heavy in his hands, and was vibrating just a little bit every second, as if it was ticking. "Uh... Master? Is this... A bomb?" Roc asks nervously, looking down at it.
"Yes, so if you don't mind hurrying up...?" Sora says, grinning sadistically as he steps to the side.
Roc's eyes go wide, and he runs out of the room, heading to the exit as fast as he can!
In a few minutes, he's out in the cool night air. Coruscant is still alive even at this time, as bars continue their businesses late into the night. He starts heading for the train station, raising the cowl of his cloak to shadow his face. Near the train station, he slips into an alley before leaning against the wall. Hmm... His master had told him where to find Barriss, but not how do contact her. He is about to leave when he heard a soft whoosh from behind him. Spinning around, he sees the woman he bumped into before. "Zar'roc, is it? Hmm. I'm glad you decided to join us!" She says, chuckling and holding out her hands. Roc hands the package to her, and she takes it from him, before looking him up and down.
"Hey... Tomorrow night... Come to my room. I'll give you a little extra reward. Consider it an... Initiation ritual." She says, winking at him and walking past.
"Sure... Whatever..." Roc says, blinking as she walks past. She pats his ass and giggles when she walks past, before bending into the crowd and vanishing from sight.
Well that was weird... Roc thinks before heading back to the Temple. He slinks into his room and slides back into bed next to Brenna and quickly falls asleep.
