Hopefully fixed for the next release.
For Vulpine faces, they should now use the "Elongated Snout" face shape, unless for some reason they adopt a "Short" face flag. Feline faces will now use the "Short Muzzle" face shape.
Do note that the mannequin is supposed to be an abstraction, so the face shapes aren't completely 1:1 to what the associate animal looks like and different face types can share the same shape if they roughly look similar. At the moment the checks are relatively simple, but it can be refined over time. If you think a face shape is a better fit for a certain face type, by all means, make a suggestion. For the moment, it is as follows (in order of priority):
- Face has beak: If "small nose" or "cute", use "Short Beak"; otherwise use "Full Beak"
- Face has muzzle:
- Face is Snake or Lizan type: If has "Long" face flag, use "Long Box"; otherwise use "Short Box"
- Face is Saurmorian, Behemoth or Frostwyrm: Use "Angular Snout"
- Face is Vulpine or Deer: If has "Short" face flag, use "Short Muzzle"; otherwise use "Elongated Snout"
- Face has "Long" face flag: Use "Long Muzzle"
- Face has "small nose" or "cute": Use "Short Muzzle"
- Otherwise, use "Full Muzzle"
- Face is angualr: Use "Angular"
- Character has goo skin: Use "Rounded"
A
"small nose" face is any face in the hasSmallNose list or any face with a "Short" face flag. The hasSmallNose list includes: Human, Dzaan, Naleen, Lapine, Human-masked, Kui-tan, Vulpine (overridden for the face shape check), Mouseman, Mouse, Simii, Sheep, and Goat (and I've added Feline, Deer to this list for the fix, as well as Thraggen (if ever implemented) and Gabilani for similarities to human noses). The hasSmallNose list is a bit ambiguous, but it's supposed to be for faces with human-shaped/sized noses or with respect to the nose to face ratio, muzzles optional but presumed to be short-ish.
A "cute" face is for having the "Perma-cute" perk.
Also note that the mannequin is also still a work-in-progress, so potentially more face shapes may be added. Also, the inclusion of ears and other potential head add-ons may make the head look more different, but that will come in time, when possible. Any suggestions for additional face shapes are welcome (though this is not a promise, I am open to ideas if I have the time to implement them).
And if the current automated face shape selections are not to your liking, you can always go into the mannequin's options and select the face that is the best fit in your head canon. After accessing Edit Bust, select your mannequin, choose Extra Options (Add-On Features) tile, then Edit, select Head from the drop-down, and go through the list of head shape options. Some may be reactive and some are static. Hope this helps.
