The Kor'diiak leash "drone" has a chance to attack the player, however when it does so the damage is instead assigned to the enemy.

also, i only did 30-40 turns worth of testing, but there was never any text indicating that the kordiiak ever was supposed to attack the enemy. with a relatively small sample size bad luck is still possible but as far as i can tell, it only ever does nothing or attacks the player (dealing damage to the enemy)

is there supposed to be a chance for it to attack the player? building the attack string seems to check if the target is the player or not, but I couldn't find where it decided who the target is

No, there's nothing that drives it to attack the player randomly as far as I am aware. The attack texts are simply built with the possible implication that we could have enemies use this item too, so we need to flip the generated strings around for that eventuality.
