The 'exit button' that normally appears when you exit a ship is present during the quest where you rescue Saendra, and choosing it ignores the rest of the quest and just immediately lets you get out where you were trying to go before accepting the message.

To add to this it when you go to the elevator, normally to go down the shortcut is e. This exit button shortcut is also e (for me at least) which meant when I went to go down the elevator it kicked me out of the quest.

Manually pressing the go down elevator button on the bottom right worked.
