Dunno the exact commands, but you can generally reset a character by typing flag."character_name" and setting the values to all the related flags to that character as undefined. They may also use "eve" as shorthand for some flags.

On a save where Alraune hasn't yet been defeated, I walked onto her boss tile and got the effigy encounter without the Effigy Herald. Defeating them returns me to this screen.
