No, the masks DO TF you. Their effects are as permanent as any normal TF (not like The Treatment or whatever), but their effects certainly persist.

Their creator didn't write a codex, and nobody has had the time or inclination to write one yet. I probably will eventually. 

You can take a look at the code, or try and track down the original authors' Google Docs, but there's no curated archive or anything like that -- wouldn't really make a lot of sense, what with the variations and parser tags interspersed with the writing.
