Two things. This bug has been fixed and will be in next release. This bug report is extremely unhelpful. If I didn't already know what caused it, I'd have to open up the game and check. Given the lack of info, it could be due to some player configuration, making me waste a lot of time trying to...

I've figured out what causes this, and it's been fixed for the next release. The reason is that the spring would push forward the "progress" variable, but not the "hoursToBirth" (which is the one that actually triggers birth).
