Why are fen games so obsessed with child care and family?

One thing I always wondered while playing a Fen game is the hyperfocus on taking care of children and domestic pursuits. These are things I rarely, if ever, see in a porn game or porn in general. This game in particular seems to have the most moments where you just sit and raise children you created, or have these tender family moments with certain NPCs. The game also has Garth dealing with his family drama and being a father, with all the stress and anxiety that goes along with it. Hell, the goal of a major antagonist is to be a parent herself! I always wondered why this game, including the other two, have such strong family and domestic themes between all the non-stop fucking. Is it because the authors themselves are parents and their own experiences of raising a child and a family bleed out into their work? Or is there a high demand for this type of stuff from the fan base? Or is it just a little bit of both? I don't have children myself, but I wonder how many users here are parents or yearn to be parents one day.

I am definitely not someone who enjoys these contents. Breeding, pregnacy and family rearing are not my kinks, and I loathe the family dog/Kinu drama. The "uwu so wholesome" moments are okay, I assume.
P.S. CoC2 is not a "Fen game" per se.

There's also the fact that the games aren't so unrealistic that proper pregnancies can't simply be handwaved away, and resulting in children to raise is the only end state that doesn't inherently invite controversy - so the only real options are "no-one gets pregnant" and "someone has to raise the kids". The former would be rather unpopular with the fanbase (people are pretty much always requesting more pregnancy content), so the latter is the better option - and since a lot of players would rather not be deadbeat parents, that naturally results in content where the PC has at least some involvement in raising the kids.

I mean, family content and stuff kind of ties into all the pregnancy stuff to me. It's a natural byproduct. I'm not a parent personally but I do like it as it feels the slice of life/downtime between all the adventures and dungeons. I've never been a gigantic fan of the foxes specifically, but hey it's there if I wanna indulge. It's a nice touch that makes things feel a little more alive and fleshed out.

Kinu and the kitsune seem to be a bit controversial to this day judging by some of the responses on here. When it comes to family drama, they hands down got the dog family beat. I'm fine with them because you can ignore them for the most part. However, when I do engage with them, the plots become something straight out of a soap opera. Nothing wrong with that, by the way. If anything, it makes me question what it says about the fan base. Not just wanting porn, but family drama, genocide, conspiracy, racism, classism and an optional complex daughter raising simulator along with the porn. Again, nothing wrong with it. It's just me wondering about the uniqueness of it all. This combination is not something you see everyday.

This game caters to dozens of different fetishes, some vanilla, some some niche. The list of things they will never approve or add to the game (besides the really extreme/violent stuff, obviously) can probably be counted on two hands, or even one.

And part of playing this game is learning to filter out the parts you don't like or don't want to deal with. Because you will find it, and it will aggravate you, but once you've found it, you know what to avoid.

tbh, i think some pregnancies just feel forced amd like a check on a list than something a character needs, for example brints sister
I kind of agree with you, more so with the characters that have one time only pregnancies.
Like, if you can knock 'em up multiple times, that feels more like playing into the kink. But with the one time, it feels more like a event that, well, you only get to see once.
In fact it part of the reason I haven't touched a lot of the characters that have that.

Also teaches you to read more clearly... and save often.

Don't really have any issue with the fox family or the wolf family (I'm assuming when people say "dog family" they referring to Garth and co.), except I feel like the kitsune content needs more gating so there is a more linearness to the scenes... it's just one big clusterfuck and it's annoying. I also wish we'd get more content with Garth's family, expansion on Gwyn's content more scenes, maybe marriage - more inclusion with certain related characters of a green persuasion... etc.
