Just make a slot called top ears this would be filled with ears that are top mounted such as rabbit, fox, wolf and cat. Then have a slot called side ears this would be filled with ears such as human, monkey, elf, dragon, Suula, etc... Also I know the terminology I used probably won't make sense...
