Need Advice for Shade!

If you do Taivra first, I think you get some important info regarding Shade that you don't get otherwise. Whether or not you want to know is up to you.

If you get the probe's cash reward before doing KQ2 (which is either immediately after beating Taivra without marrying her, or after you marry her and convince her to get a new throne), Shade will appear when the probe gets collected and moves to Uveto afterwards, preventing her from appearing in KQ2. It's the physical collection of the probe, not getting the coordinates within, that matters.
If you do KQ2 before getting the probe, and you've fucked her at least once, you can meet Shade in the bar, which will send her to Uveto and prevent her from appearing if/when you collect the probe... or you could not go to the bar and instead get the probe, which will cause her to appear when the probe is collected as in the prior scenario (that scene will actually play out differently if you did KQ2 first).
If you haven't fucked her, meeting her in KQ2 will cause her to turn hostile, which effectively removes her from the game (unless future content involving a hostile Shade gets written) and prevents you from getting the probe scene/reveal.

Oof, the fact that there's little to no warning about being locked out of some of this stuff depending on things like that.. is rather bothersome. there needs to be some kinda System to Warn players about these kinda things, especially if you have Easy mode on
Sorry for the necro, but after not playing the game for years, I found that despite getting the probe before KQ2, the reveal no longer prompts. And I got Shade in KQ2 for the first time in any play. Is it safe to say that the half-sister lore is removed or did I get a weird bug? Not that it really affected much even on lovers route, but I’m curious if it’s a lower scale retcon.

Sounds like a bug. I presume you met Shade and were on friendly terms with her prior to retrieving the probe? Obviously, she won't appear if you haven't met her yet.
Also, by "getting the probe", I assume you mean actually getting it to the surface to be retrieved by Steele Tech, not simply getting the coordinates.

Yep, exactly. I played the same as I always did before. I befriended Shade at the bar, then I got Taivra to let me retrieve the probe. The scene did not happen at all.
