Is there a more fitting NPC to give you this perk? I mean, Sabrae just makes the most logical sense in my head(seeing as she modifies bodies). Why Sabrae? You'd need an explanation why it's exempt from the 2 implant limit, I think.
There really isn't a 'perfect' NPC. I've been thinking Dr. Lessau. I know psionics is not his department, butIs there a more fitting NPC to give you this perk? I mean, Sabrae just makes the most logical sense in my head.
Where do you think the Cybernetic Subprocessor is installed? As for the explanation...because it's installed in the brain and not the lower muscles?
Dr. Lessau would be more convenient, considering you wouldn't have to go off planet for this perk. There really isn't a 'perfect' NPC. I've been thinking Dr. Lessau. I know psionics is not his department, but
1. You're on Uveto at the end of the Ice Queen quest, making it a natural starting point.
2. He's the most likely to know how to get into contact with whatever department of SteeleTech does deal with this. (SteeleTech does produce a Staff, so it almost certainly does have a department for it.)
Assuming you're insisting on it being an Implant that isn't an Implant, I'd piggy-back on this. Non-Kineticists get it installed like a Psi-Amp (because that's what it is), Kineticists get it integrated into their existing setup somehow. As a kineticist, you would receive a brain implant to augment your latent telekinetic abilities, allowing you to rely almost completely upon your own willpower and intelligence.
Yea as good as this idea is, I doubt I could make any sort of convincing enough argument to the devs/coders for it to get accepted. It's probably not worth fighting over
I mean, I'd assume that having it directly plugged into his brain the way it was is what made him go nuts in the first place, so do you really want to make that exact same mistake?I'll say this right now, if this is the direction he takes/wants to take the psi-amp in.View attachment 43210
Then I'm not interested, we don't need what is essentially an implant version of the psi-noise generator.
Even if we went with Sabrae, I'm deadset on this being a perk and not a regular old implant.I mean, I'd assume that having it directly plugged into his brain the way it was is what made him go nuts in the first place, so do you really want to make that exact same mistake?
Using Sabraes implant methodology seems way safer, as the Zaika have a much better handle on cybernetics in general.
I was under the impression that's how Steele's Psi-Amp worked.I mean, I'd assume that having it directly plugged into his brain the way it was is what made him go nuts in the first place, so do you really want to make that exact same mistake?
It would have to be at least equal to the Sensory Dampener to be viable. Are you really dead-set on the Energy angle?I'll say this right now, if this is the direction he takes/wants to take the psi-amp in.

It is, the only reason Zaalt's went haywire is because it was a black-market upgraded/enhanced version that glitched on him.I was under the impression that's how Steele's Psi-Amp worked.
It's not even Black Market, it's experimental and probably stolen.“Look,” he says. “I don’t know what happened. Honest. The implant I’ve got is, uh, experimental. Not exactly corporate standard, if you get my drift. But it should have been stable - and even if not, it blowing out should have just killed me, not made me go nuts on you. That was not what they told me would happen.”
Zaalt shrugs. “The people that made it. Like I said, it’s kind of home made. Guess it wasn’t ready for actual use. Tell you what: let me use your john for a minute and I’ll pop the bastard out. Just in case. Then we can make that delivery, yeah?”
“Ugh! Look, I’m sorry, Bastette,” Kara says, putting a hand on yours. “I didn’t know. So let me be honest for Zaalt: that implant of his is, well, not corporate standard. Which is to say, it’s illegal to sell or use in sapients because it hasn’t been tested properly. But it’s supposed to be powerful. Way powerful, compared to what’s on the market now. Zaalt and I were both hired to take the implant prototype from the lab it was built in, out here to the Uveto system for testing. This is a corporate world, basically a non-concern for Confederate law enforcement, and so many of the native races have primal psionic ability that it seemed like the ideal place to conduct tests.”
Says who? Who paid for all of this, anyway?
“That, I don’t know,” Kara says with an apologetic shrug. “We’re smugglers, not corporate agents. We got the job through our employer, who got it from someone else... there’s a lot of deniability all the way back, just in case. For all we know, the person we’re delivering the implant to is the same one who made it, and just couldn’t be bothered to bring it in through normal channels.”
