Is the closure of public submission final?

When I was browsing through the submission thread, I couldn't help but notice the July 1st notice of 'open closure'. My question is: if this is for good, as in no more submissions from the community, or if it is only temporary up until perhaps the devs has implemented much of the backlogs that they have for the game?

Oh, well that sucks. I was hoping to contribute some expansions to already existing npcs that I like in the future after catching up to the latest main story available. It's a shame that I only came across the game a month before this closure but it is what it is, I suppose.

Yeah that's probably permanent, not sure what that means for those submissions still pending though I feel if your currently working on something and reach out to Savin you can see if you can get an extension in that case. What I'm most curious about is if certain characters that don't have an already submitted expansion in the works or is something the devs already commissioned, will they be axed in July, such as several of Bubble's npcs which are pretty incomplete or just considered annoying (Byrvenia, Takahiro, Ninian... I don't know if Sugo counts or not) as well as some of Hugs characters (Elf Boy, Frostpupper) and some others (Liulfr).

Unfortunately, I was still in the process of learning the different parsers and how its used when the closure announcement occured. So you couldn't really say I've taken the official first step in writing the expansions for npcs I so desperately want to have more character, in addition to slightly more sex option, and perhaps a pregnancy content.

Now that you mentioned it, I'm curious too. A shame about Liulfr, he/she was one of my target npcs to expand upon.

I don't blame Savin for doing it. I know he's been wanting to get rid of the incomplete characters for a while if no one picks them up, and I'm sure the backlog is HUGE on submissions, gotta cut it off at some point so they can clear the backlog while also adding the main story stuff. I honestly appreciate it because one of the big things I don't like about CoC1 and TiTS (even though TiTS is still in dev as well) is the sheer amount of incomplete or "feels incomplete" content.

I do think it would be awesome though if after the cut off they gave the few trusted authors the option to pick up 1 or 2 of the characters that could use a revamp/expansion to write for. Maybe the ones on the chopping block as a last chance to save a character they are interested in, but just never got to. Maybe just 1 character if they want to do a big expansion/revamp, or 2 if it's just small addon/adjustment. Just a thought.

I hope these characters don't get axed. I like building the house for Ninian. Also the Frostpupper is critical in my speedrunning.

Pretty sure Ninian is getting axed or at least getting an option to remove him permanently from the game. I know Savin doesn't care for the character either.

I'd rather keep the Frostpupper as well, but she's very barebones. I know there was someone that was expanding on them, but don't know what happened to that. Savin did say there was plans to remove some content that is deemed incomplete, though not sure what will get the axe exactly - I'm just making assumptions based on previous conversations in the gripe and want threads.

If actually serious about the speedrunning bit, how do you make use of her for that? Genuinely curious.

I hope it's only a "remove npc" option, have them all just getting axed would leave a sour taste, for better or worse they're character that have been here for years and years. Throwing them away and the content people appreciated would be a mistake imo, it's not a Berwyn situation where you have to maintain it or the experience fall appart because companion.

I think some of them should be axed, at least the ones that are obviously incomplete, like Byrvenia. While I kind of like her and we are limited on taeleer women, she is obviously incomplete and I've had my fill of incomplete characters from CoC1. That leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Some like, Ninian probably could just get away with a remove button. End of the day it's up to the dev team what they want to do, and if they feel it's better to outright remove them... that's what they will do.

Since I only play this ..periodically, I completly missed this announcement.

On the one hand it makes sense, on the other hand I wonder how this will affect the ammount of different content.
Or are we nearing the games end and I did not notice that as well?

I don't remember like anything about her.

Yeah we're in the last act now. And there's a MASSIVE backlog of submissions in the review queue; more than enough to last us the rest of development if they all get accepted (which, to be clear, they won't) -- and we also have several full-time writers working on their own stuff too.

I hope it's only a "remove npc" option
I think what's likely to happen is that we'll make a [Cutting Room Floor] mode (turned "off" -- ie the content is hidden -- by default) that all the shit that doesn't meet standards gets shoved into. So it'll still be there if you really want it, but it'll clear up the experience by a lot for the vast majority of players.

We can (if necessary) then add [Remove Content] buttons on top of that for encounters so you can tailor the experience a bit more if you choose to play with that mode on.

Any plans for the future? Or are you focused on finishing and maybe expanding on CoC2 for now?

I do remember reading that you never want to work on a TF game again, though that may be hyperbole.

As much as I remember the way her Angry Breed scene goes, there is supposed to be some sort of progression to get to know her better or something but Bubble never got to it before they left the community. There was supposed to be a means to make her less annoying to encounter and get to know her better I think? It's been so long and I usually do the fight and get out and hope she doesn't appear for a while. Lol. I feel like she's probably the most annoying fight of the area though, which would be fine if she had some sort of the progression mentioned earlier to warrant it, otherwise as of now she's just a dumb fight, especially as early on as she spawns.

Out of curiousity do you think you can post a list of the content that will be affected by this mode? I'm sure some of what I mentioned earlier is on it but I'm curious what else might be affected.

Will Shar be on this list or do you still have plans to expand her?

I know having children with her seems to softens her relationship with the champ somewhat. You can even get a repeatable event where you can either discuss her parenting or fuck her against a tree. I feel Byvernia has a good amount of content. Now Shar and June are lacking in the content department.

Now I'm curious about Shar too. With the current available narrative about her in-game, I think it's pretty safe to assume she's favored heavily by Sorra, if not outright one of her would-be champion if Shar's quick uptake of the combat lessons the Champion gives her is any sort of indication, and that's not even mentioning her likeness to said god. This narrative point is something I'm interested to follow through to the end—if it ever gets picked up again, that is.

No, the Evergreen plotline getting its bow on it is non negotiable to me.
It's nice to know that one of my fears for Senja was unnecessary. Now for the rest of my concerns about her future content will probably step on spoiler territory, so I'll just content myself to this bit of good news for the time being.

No.

I'd really LIKE to but time's really not on her side.
Have you guys ever outsourced writing extra content for existing characters that have sex scenes but need more not sex scenes written? (By outsourced I mean to the community like with public submissions).

I've never outsourced JUST non-sex, with NO sex -- I can write a character's non-sex stuff very quickly myself, it's the sex that's the actual difficult and time-consuming part (and which I enjoy much less than the non-sex part, tbqh). We outsource both sides together all the time (thank you Patreon/etc. backers).

Ahhh, I see. I feel that very much. I like reading smut but for some reason writing it feels like pulling teeth. No idea why.

That's fair. Leaves me super curious what will be on the mode though as this thread made obvious that everyone's idea of what is complete and should stay and incomplete varies, haha.

Oof. Here is hoping you find the time to get to it, I've always liked Shar as a character and felt she deserved as much attention as her sister. Also the idea of making the champion get Zhara and Shar reconcile has been a want for me for a while.
