I've been gone for a hot minute, and saw the discord server has a phone verification now. I use an alt account, so I can't link it to my phone number (discord literally wont let me) - is there any way around this in the chat or am I kinda now in the silent observer role?

If so, RIP I guess.

Hey, I just had this issue and unfortunately there's not a whole lot of options unless you're willing to get a second number or use some shadier methods that I won't elaborate on. People have complained about the 1-phone-per-account policy for years, so I doubt it's changing anytime soon.

The only pseudo-workaround I found is unlinking your phone number from your main so that number is freed up for you to use with your alt. Obviously this doesn't work if your main also needs phone verification for other servers, and even if it does work you're probably going to want to set up another 2-factor authentication method for your main.

Yes, I am well aware I'm toeing the line with the no-necros policy, but in my defense it's not like I'm bumping this thread up much. As of writing, there is only 1 thread above this one and it's a 3+ year necro.

Is it really necro since it was only a few weeks ago?

I mean if we're going off Ted's old rules post, kinda?

Don't "necromance" threads, which means posting in them and bringing them back to the fore of discussion and activity weeks or months after the most recent post. This is okay, to a degree, if you have something actually pertaining to the subject at hand.

I know that post is like a decade old but I haven't been able to find anything more concrete on what defines a necro, so I'm erring on the side of caution.
